I could sort of see the light up bit being used to make a bit of wall art by using some of the extra length to do loops or a cursive letter or two, assuming the PC is roughly level with the monitor (and close enough). But if the cables are going to be hidden anyway, either in the wall or multi-cable sleeves, then it's just preferable to by the non-RGB version.

That exists to some extent; in a battery-operated toilet bowl light. Meant to provide mood illumination and soft lighting when you don't want to turn on the regular lights for some reason.

Same goes for shower and faucet RGB fixtures; the shower ones use the RGB either to show water temp, or changed so you can have "mood lit" showers, while the faucet ones are similar; either to show temperature or just to make kids enjoy washing their hands while the water "color changes".

And there are a few companies who specialize in making the ultimate ambient mood bathrooms; with a micro-computer that controls the lighting, sound effects, and even visuals (projectors if included, or things like pulsing/breathing of lights) for those who want to have a miniature getaway in their own bathroom. You want to close your eyes and feel like you're taking a dump or a shower in the jungle? No problem; the bathroom's humidity will rise, and you would be blanketed in a faint mist. Want to pretend you're bathing under a thunderstorm? No problem, the lights will dim and flicker with every audio burst of lightning, while your high-end rain showerheads modulate their flow rate to simulate natural rain. Want to pretend you're taking a dump or bath on a beach? The projectors will stream an illusionary beach scene onto the specially coated walls while playing the sounds of being on the beach.

Well I spose this is no worse than those gonk RGB sticks Corsair put out add in the KB, Mouse and mouse pad and not to mention the monitor and now you to can have that 1970's disco look going all the time from everything on your desk YAY (not)
