Hi, i just adquired a 9700X for a good value (at least in my country) to take a jump into an 8 core CPU. Now, i'm currently running my 7600, because the 9700X freezes while running Ryzen Master Curve Optimizer.
When i reach 15 minutes time of the 50 minutes that the test lasts, it freezes my PC and i need to do a hard reset.
The weird thing is, when the PC restarts, Ryzen Master continues with the Curve Optimization and finishes it.
I tried my 7600 with no issues at all. I knew that, in the past, ASUS boards were having problems with RM, but now, it pass the Curve Optimization with my 7600 but it freezes my 9700X.
What could be the issue?
I'm on the latest BIOS.

Rest of the system:

The most likely reason is that you lost the silicon lottery and your 9700X can't undervolt, or is somehow not really compatible with Ryzen Master. Try manual optimisations via BIOS and see if things are any different (also removing Ryzen Master from the equasion by disabling its startup at launch).

When RM finished the optimization it undervolt the CPU with a -24 CO. I ran OCCT CoreCycler and full (AVX2) with no issues, same with CB R23. I played some GOW Ragnarok, no issues either. I found that some programs are not fully compatible yet with Ryzen 9000. For example: CoreTemp shows you the temperature but not the frequency. MSI Afterburner with RivaTuner don't show your CPU info at all.

-24... aggressive. I'd play it -18.

Seems the Ryzen Master itself needs an update.

With Ryzen 7000 and 9000 you can go all the way down to -50 CO. In fact, my 7600, more than a year, stable at -50 CO. Never an issue.

It doesn't matter, not every chip can do it.

I rock -20 all core on my 7800x3d. Could maybe do 25, but I prefer extra stability.

Yeah, i know that all chips are different. What i wanna know what's going on with the 9700X and RM, lol.

No idea, I have not used RM once with my 7800x3d. I do everything in BIOS. Been stable with 0 issues since I came home from Microcenter several months ago.

Should i input -20 and run OCCT or which software?

Hi. Which program (and for how long) do you recommend to check for CPU instability? I usually run OCCT (core cycling and auto with AVX2), 30 minutes of CB R23 and daily use. Is that good enough??

I use Aida64 stability test, but unless you pay for the full version, you'll only get the 30 day trial. Otherwise prime95 is another one I use sometimes & that's about it for me with these kinds of tests. There are other options out there, but each to their own.

I found a review from Hardware Busters that said the following: "Using the Ryzen Master Curve Optimizer function, I encountered many system freezes and hangs. AMD should look into this."

Blender, Prime95, Cinebench, they're all good at testing stability at full load. However, stability issues sometimes only flag up during lightly threaded loads. For that, I'd suggest any old game, or just using your PC as normal.

As for Ryzen Master, as it's been said, forget it. What you're trying to do is what the BIOS is for. There was no need for AMD to try to reinvent the wheel, and it didn't even work.

i have never had a single AM5 CPU that was fully 24/7 stable at beyond -10.
running benchmarks or stress tests means nothing when the lower end of the V/F Curve is the unstable part.

They invented RM for those afraid to go into bios & tweak from there.

I get the idea, but it never worked for me. Starting from not doing anything and not giving me any readings on my CPU, all the way to even refusing to install.

I still have memories of using it on a 2600X back in the day... never again! sure they update a bit but still, the bios is the go for direct control.

Thank you all for your answers. I'm gonna go and set everything by BIOS. And i repeat, there's an issue between the crappy RM and 9000 series CPU's: "Using the Ryzen Master Curve Optimizer function, I encountered many system freezes and hangs. AMD should look into this."
Cheers!!

People, i ran CB R23 half an hour (stability test), no issues.
I ran OCCT CoreCycler for an hour, no issues.
I ran Prime95 (latest version, no AVX) for 2 hours, no issues.
I ran CoreCycler Y-Cruncher for an hour, no issues.
I player GOW Ragnarok and RE 4 Remake, no issues.
I ran Passmark, CPU-Z and Geekbench 6, no issues.
I do some web browsing and other light stuff, for now, no issues.

Let's hope with the days everything will be fine.

I do not think RM is supposed to be used past the 2000 and 3000 generation of AMD processors, on the AMD page, there are two versions, one for 3000 series and one for 2000 series.

Hi. It says "for Ryzen 3000 and newer". The CPU had an issue with high clocks (5.55GHz) and RM freezes up. I tried a CO with a 4.5GHz all core and it passed the test without issues. I returned the CPU.

Ryzen Master sucks.

UEFI is where its at
I have to agree. I can never get it to give me consistent results with curve optimizer and it does freeze or resets my 7950x system I guess when cores start crashing as RM is testing. I also found a nasty UEFI/BIOS bug using it and discovered even after turning off CO in UEFI/BIOS because I didn't clear out the CO settings per core they were still being applied on reboot :banghead: !

Whenever Ryzen Master is modifying UEFI parameters I feels it's infecting it and I eventually have to do a restore to defaults to purge UEFI of wonkyness. If RM can't work reliably they should just pull it and stop offering it.
