Hey folks!

Bought an old laptop and run into a problem of unknown bios for Radeon HD 7670M 1gb in gpu-z.
It all started from graphic drivers incorrect working. I thought I just choose wrong driver versions and kept reinstalling them from both Win10 and Win7 and I didn't even notice that I have BIOS problem in gpu-z.

So one possible solution is reinstall BIOS with ATIWinFlash am I right? But the problem is I can't find proper BIOS rom in database, the only one I found was 7670M 4GB rom. I've tried to boot it from ATIflash in DOS but it gave me error (if I remember correctly - 0fl0l)

Does anyone know how to revive my vga?

My laptop:
HP Pavilion g6-2284er
i7-3630qm
Radeon HD 7670M 1gb
10gb RAM

That is you above.

So WTF did you flash a GPU that was working!?

You put a micron bios on when you need a hynix bios.

Your problem stems from the cpu upgrade. HP utilizes what is known as white lists for pcb firmware, so you should have not flashed the gpu and put the old cpu back in.

Here is a gpu-z validation of the specific Device ID and SSID from the link I provided and the gpu-z image you provided.

Notice there is no bios version listed, it's not needed.

There is no bios in the database here. You will need to put the old cpu back in and buy another 7670M that comes from your specific line of laptop, that's if it's a mxm and not soldiered to the mobo.

Otherwise you need to buy a new laptop.

@impero anything I am missing?

I bet he has the same problem, i will try reinstall win7 and follow directions from russian 4pda, if no result - win8 is the last try. Then I will just stick to igpu

Hello.
No mate you were absolutely right.
But...i do not understand people who come here on this forum AFTER they messed with the video cards.
Why in the world someone could not come here to ask for an advice prior to mess up the whole thing?

your only hope of recovering the laptop is if the video bios is included in the system bios. try re-flashing the the laptop. i see a bios for it here https://support.hp.com/us-en/driver...2200-notebook-pc-series/5296082/model/5319724 F.27 Rev.A
He claims the gpu boots up, i see no driver installed for it though, from that thread i found, it seems cpu caused troubles but from the gpu-z verification from 2015 there was no bios version from the same exact model of 7670m from hp...

This is why laptops are no longer upgradeable by the end user due to whitelists...

Can it be that bios of my gpu is non existing by default and it doesn’t need it to work properly?

Understand this, your bios is in the gpu otherwise you would have no display on the laptop screen. Put the gpu driver in i provided earlier and get a gpu-z screenshot after. Lets see whats going.

I installed them like a hundred times already, they recognise my card as 7600m and no bios whatsoever

I'm trying to help you understand something.

Put the gpu drivers back in and get a gpu-z screenshot.

Help us by doing what is asked of you to do or we can't help you.

I've been doing the gpu bios rescue for 5 years now.

So trust me on this

Dont make this harder on yourself. I'm not a psychic but this isn't rocket science either.

screenshots from gpu-z with drivers from HP official website:

This is same driver but in game. Notice that card is working but clockspeed is only 400mhz and memory speed is also 400mhz:

Now I will install drivers you provided from AMD website and update this message.

Upd. I installed drivers from AMD (tried both catalyst 15.7.1 and crimson 16.2.1) and they don’t work. Downgrading to original HP drivers.

Upd2. Older version 14.0 for win8 also not working

I deleted all drivers with amdcleanup utility, changed back to b980 processor and installed drivers from HP. gpu is working in stock 600mhz core and 900mhz memory and I can even change clockspeed manually in AB. So you were right, thank you! But what’s up with this i7? It’s clearly upgradable in other laptops with the same chipset as mine.

It's a hardware limitation of the motherboard known as a hardware firmware white list. They are set in place to reduce warranty returns/repairs, also the cooling system may not be able to handle anything better than the old cpu you put back in. Mobiles are proprietary and lack the modularity of pc desktops.

Now to my Point, the bios was never missing on that GPU. The reason being is because of the ability to power up using it and also the presence of the GPU Bios Device ID: of 1002 6840 Subsystem ID: 103C 183E along with the correct memory on the card of Hynix. Truthfully the Bios version number is really not needed as long as Dev ID, SSID and specific memory type are present in the bios rom.

The HP forum thread had micron memory on the card and the person who said put the old cpu back in was correct for the fix.

It's the world we live in, so if you find anyone that is taking your particular series of mobile motherboard and modifying the mobo bios (not the gpu) to support that core i7 3000 series, you can go there and maybe keep us informed of that development so that way we can help others go in the right direction.

Do us 1 favor, in GPU-Z, click the Black Arrow next to the UEFI check box on the right side of the program, and upload that Bios to the VGA Bios collection/Database through gpu-z itself, be very specific about the laptop model and the cpu that is in it as well for the details

Thank you for help, I will upload gpu-z bios soon as I will fully test everything again on that old B980 chip. Meanwhile, do you think that if I will replace it with something like i7-3632qm or i5-3230m (those are compatible according to a pdf manual of Pavilion g6 series) it will work correctly?

Upd. gpu-z won't let me upload bios - "BIOS reading not supported on this device."

I cannot guarantee those chips will work correctly either, if it's not on HPs support list, its no guarantee that it will work correctly, all you can do is try, just bear in mind it make screw with the gpu again like that core i7 did...

I've been testing laptop these couple of days with stock B980 chip and gpu is not working correctly, game crashes after 5-10 min without error. I've tried every existing driver out there on Win 10,7 and now on 8,1, the only compatible one is an old driver from HP website. Also gpu is not visible in FurMark, but it's somehow visible in gpu-z and AB (AB can even overclock it). What can cause those problems?

Well if the old driver works its a bios limitation
