Ram headache (Overclocking)

Hi everyone!

Now I'm a newbie when it comes to building a pc, so I'm not super knowledgeable about all the inner workings.
But I have purchased a 16gb (dual channel) stick of Patriot Viper Steel 3733mhz ram!
However, when I try to overclock it (to 3733 up from 2133mhz) at all. The display turns black, resulting in me having to reset the BIOS. I'm using the ryzen calculator tool, with the ram detector tool (I forgot the name), but still it's not working (I may be doing something wrong but I'm not sure). Even the XMP isn't working :(
I'm using a Asrock B550 Pro4 mATX mobo, so it should be able to support it.

If someone could help me it would be amazing and very much appreciated!

Update: I got it working, but it's still not updating the ram to 3733mhz. No matter what I change in the BIOS, it wouldn't update the ram speed.

Could be a bios problem
is it the latest version?
in case do you have another system to test them?

I also used DRAM Calculator and every time I had to reset the bios to get the system to boot

Seems you and @MikeMikeson are in the same boat. In his thread I reference ASRock's caveat when it comes to advertised supported memory speds.

Beyond that; what processor do you have? Ryzen seems particular about what combinations and speeds it runs.

It could be a BIOS problem, but I doubt it. While trying to find a solution I found that updating the BIOS was an option. So I updated it to P1.40 (from P1.10 (I think it was originally))
I don't have another system because this is my first ever build.

Currently I have a Ryzen 3 3300x. Yeh that honestly doesn't sound like good news

I'm currently using the Ryzen 3 3300x. I'll reply to this with pictures of my BIOS.

3300x IMC is so easy to get 3800mhz, even less 3733mhz. Maybe you should change your soc voltage to 1.15v

Keep everything to auto except soc voltage to 1.15v and enable the xmp.
I assume your memory IC is Hynix. right?

I increased the soc voltage to 1.15v without any change what so ever.

I changed everything to auto apart from the xmp and the soc voltage and it refused to get past the BIOS. And yes my memory is Hynix!
