I have an RTX 2080 Super founders on a TCL 6 series R635 TV. I started noticing purple flashes on the screen, generally when I moused over something that changed color, like a hover effect, a line under a HTTP link, or a menu that goes to a different color when moused over, etc. Although it also does it by itself at times. I bought this TV in early 2020, and I noticed this in 2021 or early 2022. It probably started after an update of some form either a TV Firmware update or a driver update. I went into the Nvidia control panel and while messing around, I changed the resolution from RGB to YCBCR 4:2:2 at 10 bit, and the flashing was gone. I tried different YCBCR settings and the flashing was still gone. I tried RGB, and again same issue. I have reset the TV and PC, still the same issue. I have swapped out cables. I now have a 2.1 Ultra High-Speed cable that has the certification sticker/hologram that you can scan with the HDMI app, and it is a certified 48 gbps cable, not that my TV can support that, but it is still a certified cable. I still have the issue in RGB mode.

I have seen other that have this issue, so in the interim, switching to YCbCr in Nvidia Control Panel, under Resolution fixes it. I think YcbCr 422 provides better color and brightness. However, in long term, I think RGB can be a better format, especially for HDR. So, anyone have any idea what is actually going on?

Sounds more like a cable quality issue.

Anything not 444 (RGB is always 444) uses chroma subsampling to reduce cable bandwidth. Higher bandwidth being pushed across the cable may lead to artifacts.

What resolution? Is it just 60hz, or higher? You may need a higher spec'd hdmi cable depending on all these details, and we can advise the min spec you need to buy. No need to overpay just make sure its really cert'd to that spec.

Also as mentioned above, some tvs just hate chroma 444 for some reason and in that case, there isn't much that can be done.
