may not be the GPU and seasonic oem units do have a rep for having more coil whine issues (may or may not be justified, although in my experience it is) than other high quality PSU oems.

Hmm my psu is designet by but manufactored by Seasonic. I had a EVGA RTX 3080 FTW 3 ULTRA before. I had zero coil whine problem with that card. typically coil whine from gpu comes when producing a lot of FPS. But my card coil whine with just 80 to 90 FPS.

Louder fans will fix that :D
lol. Cooling on RTX 4090 is overkill. My card consuming 450 watt and in silent bios mode. At 69 C fans spins 1100-1200 RPM. minimum RPM is 1000 RPM before going in to 0 DB mode and max RPM is 3100 RPM. That should say something about how silent and overkill these cards cooling is or can be. It´s so silent that the coil whine is much higher and harder to ignore than fan noise.

Really eh?

I am kind of kicking myself. On launch day I had about 6 hours to buy one. Now they are sold out, and Newegg put them into computers to sell. Super lame. And over on Amazon they are about double the price as they were on Newegg. Typical. My 5-year loan is like 2 payments from being done, I am ready for moar!

Yes really. Now I have torture it. With max power target and a overclock. Using around 540 watt still with silent bios. Peaking at 75-76 C. Fan speed does not exceed 1300 rpm. Totally nuts. 540 watts and rpm does not go higher. Performance bios is next to test. But what I try to say is. Cooling on rtx 4090 can easily handle 600 watt of heat if alowed to. At least on my card. With the current oc and that temp and watt load. Gpu is still at around 2925 mhz. Stock is 2775 for my mild factory oc card.

I was lucky to find this card last Friday. Ordered is as fast as possible. So I got my card Monday this week.

Mine is gigabyte 4090 oc. It only had coil whine for the first 30 min and then it stopped. I think to some extent it breaks itself in. I've found the same thing with the 6900xt in another system, just needs to run for a while and then the whine stops.

Anyone have any experience on Gigabyte Gaming OC and coil whine compared to others.

I know they all have a little bit to some extent, but is the Gaming OC very hush and faint or is it bad?

A 3090 Ti Gaming OC I have is very hush and faint consistent whine and barely to not noticeable coil whine

Hmm I have read that some cards gets less coil whine over time and others don't have any difference. I will run with the card for few weeks then and if it doesn't work out. I might rma it. Thanks for the in put.
Inno3D X3 OC - zero sounds from coils.
Thanks for replying. This can lead to what card to get to avoid coil whine.

I would also still like input from more people. Do your card coil whine and also after a break-in period. Dit the coil whine get less, worse or the same. Knowing that would be very helpful to deside for rma now or wait and see if it gets better.

I do have coil whine ony 4090 Tuf
On my previous cards undervolting fixed it a bit.

However I read that it's better to limit power slider than do an undervolt on the 4090.

I'd like some advices about it.

Thanks

You are not alone looking for advices. For now I have desides that I will run the card as normal.

After reading that over time coil whine can be less or completely be gone over time as coils being used and shaped out. That can get it to be less or gone. But it can also be that it does not disappear.

So for now with my own 4090 tuf. I am running normally while it screaming like a banche in hope of that it will be less over time. If that doesn't help. I might end up rma the card. Really sad. Because besides coil whine, the card is really good.

Since people has awakening this thread. I can tell, i no longer have the tuf card sadly. The coil whine was to much. I now have a Gigabyte card. It still has coil whine, but significantly less than the tuf card and i have desided to keep this gigabyte card.

Still coil whining like hell and it's a lot worse when using DLSS frame generation

I think it has something to do with their selection of inductor and how they got mounted on the pcb. I heard gamerock owner and zotac has very little coil whine, because they have through hole mounting i think?

Mine 4090 tuf been coilwhining a lot at day 1 and getting better now, but still much coil whine compared with my 3080.

i only had coilwhine on gpus when fps is very high. just limit fps to your monitor refresh rate and you should be fine!
