I recently picked up a Rx 6800 to play around with since my 3060ti has been holding me back with the 8GB vram buffer. So far I have to say I'm impressed with it except one thing, that is the hotspot temperature... It's way to high seeing around 96c- 100c in most games DX12 and DX11, I since wanted to undervolt it a bit before taking it apart and changing out the paste, my 3060ti never had temps that high on the hotspot. I did some undervolting a bit and this is where I don't know where to go next but my 6800 is stable at 950mv @ mhz 2250, thing is bothering me is my score went down a bit along with the power consumption trying to get it at a sweet spot of 150w in superposition. On the other hand, if I keep the clock at stock 2300, I get no difference in temperature, its still 20 delta between the edge and the hotspot (79c-99c) and the power is at 180w (this is worrying me too much) it's almost as if no change is happening, maybe its a RDNA2 thing?

I did not touch the power limit not sure if this affects much since it's either 2200 with bad score (8205) low temps or 2300 at 950mv with (8506 score) with still high temps. My question is should I bother at this rate in lowering the voltage risking stability possible damaging the GPU or leave it alone and repaste it along with the undervolt, the voltage is stable at 950 but not sure if I should go lower keeping the frequency/power limit?

This is at 2300 @ 950mv

tl;dr Trying to lower the hotspot temp from 95c to at least 80 ish c with undervolting

My model 6800 is reference cooler.
