Ryzen 7 7800X3D will be the most affordable Zen 4 X3D processor, but it doesn't release until April. We reconfigured the Ryzen 9 7950X3D to match the specs of the 7800X3D and ran it through our test suite, which includes 14 games at 720p, 1080p, 1440p and 4K. Results are impressive.

Benchmark Scores They're pretty good, nothing crazy.
Odd decision indeed to delay 7800X3D, but now with simulated results really excited to see how the real 7800X ends up performing.

I think they were maybe scared of too much X3D demand? the 7800 will probably sell 2x the other two combined.

7800X3D looks awesome! Give me an affordable B650/A620 board with only 2dimm-slots and I consider swapping my 5600X for one :)

They also want to target the whales who have more money than sense and don't realize that a 7800X3D would be just as good for gaming as the 7950X3D.

4825 at stock, Cinebench nT, not hitting the thermal limit or any other limit in Ryzen Master

Let me try with some PBO love

Edit: 5.1 GHz with a bit of tweaking

Great review.

i have suggestion for a game that really hammers my 5800X, that is The Ascent.
don't know if my CPU is the limiting facor , but when i enable RT my GPU hovers around 50 to 60% usage.

but could be engine limitation too.

Benchmark Scores I once clocked a Celeron-300A to 564MHz on an Abit BE6 and it scored over 9000.
Very interesting!
I will go back and read the rest of the review in more detail, but the 720p gaming results are NOT what I expected - They're all over the place!
I guess the scheduler is smarter than I'm giving AMD credit for, it does seem to know when particular threads in cache-happy games could still run faster on a higher-clocked, small-cache CCD.

That power consumption is impressive. I think I will be able to take the top rad out of my system and just use the front one so i can put a fan over my ram to overclock it better.
There's still no overclocking support ? not even bclk this time?

This test is very flawed. The 7800x3D is 700mhz slower than the 7950x3D so just disabling half the cores is not even close to an accurate comparison. AMD is doing that on purpose to keep the price to performance correct in their x3D lineup. It's the same reason they disable overclocking on them too.

But the high clocks are only for the cacheless CCD, if I understand correctly.

A bit sad that Ryzen 7 5800X3D is missed in charts. It was interesting to compare with 7800X3D.

7800x3d is going to be very interesting.

AT this rate there may actually be a reason for me to upgrade by 2030...

This is great, really great idea doing this for an early look at 7800x3d.

From the summary (haven't read everything yet) seems like the 5800x3d is within ~15% of a faux 7800x3d/7950x3d at lower resolutions and only about ~5% when stepping up to 4k. That was the main thing I wanted to know, zen3 seems to me like the much better deal, not to mention much better platform maturity and stability. As it's price continues to drop it will only get better and better

My guess that W1zzard desided to make kind of "fast comparison". Hope it will be in 7800X3D review when it actually released.

Its a nice insight into what the 7800X3D might perf like, and if its accurate its roughly only 15-30fps faster in games than a stock 5900x. So the obvious answer is the cost of a new mobo+ram+cpu, isnt worth the cost at this time.

Even with trading-in my 5900, the overall cost of the upgrade will be £700+ for that extra 15-30fps in games. I would be better of putting the £700 towards a new GPU, but even then the only logical upgrade from my 3080-12gb is the 4080. And if I am being honest, I cannot really justify blowing £700+(£380 trade-in for my 3080).

Wow great idea, its interesting to see a taste of the 7800X3D. I mean, for gaming it seems like a beast as long as the price stays in line.
