Hello everyone,

my two years old RX580 card starts to have strange glitches on windows login display and on desktop (small squares of green dots on display or colored artifacts lines). Sometimes also surfing the net with chrome I've noticed some artifacts. No problem during 3d stress test or gaming. I've tryed to ddu and reinstall latest drivers with no luck. Same results reinstalling Windows. Monitor (Dell u2719D) is ok as I've tested it with another pc. I've also tryed the card on another pc. Same results... No overclocking. The card is stock. Maybe the original bios is corrupted. Could you please help me to find the right bios for my card? Thanks, Riccardo.

The BIOS does not “corrupt” unless you have attempted to flash it.Those types of artifacts are usually always a VRAM issue
The BIOS on your card IS the right BIOS fo your card It’s not a “driver update

As for actual solutions seeing as this is happening at “idle” or light loads I can’t think of a way to lower the VRAM clocks for low power states that is usually the easy “test/fix” is lowering the VRAM clocks 5-10Mhz and see if it sorts the issue.
I will let some Polaris users weigh in with possible solutions being a Vega owner I have a lot more options and can’t say for certain what you can and can’t do.

Thanks Instg8r for your super quick response!

I've tryed to flash other bioses with no luck. Unfortunately my card is out of warranty from last month!
I've tryed with overdriventool to inhibit P0 state (double click) but the artifacts remain.

Thanks again for the hint

Well putting the wrong BIOS alone could cause problems like that if it’s different VRAM values for example. But it is definitely a VRAM issue, solving it is another matter.

Thats vram artifacts, looks like your card is on its last legs, can you try to lower the vram frequency to see if this helps you? try MSI afterburner, thats not the effect of a bad bios flash imo and it happened before you even touched a bios.

You’re right, Instg8r.
That’s what matters: I‘m searching the correct bios because i think to have damaged the original one trying to rewrite the card.
Maybe it’s simply a faulty vram, but i want to try every possible step.

if it happened before you tried flashing it's not the bios, wrong vram mfr wont flash and modified timings will usually run fine in windows and only crash under 3d load, these are defective vram artifacts which are different to the other issues I described

Hi Mrpotatohead,
I’ve tryed alternative bioses when realized that my core and mem clocks were stucked at max. That was caused maybe by the drivers but i wanted to test also the bios step. The strage thing‘s that i have artifacts only at login screen and always in the same exact position.

OK, post a copy of your original bios in this thread and I will find a compatible stock bios file for you and compare them.

Another thing... if i install drivers manually, selecting only the video ones, i have login artifacts. If i choose to install all packages i have also glitches and colored lines on desktop. No problem during stress test or 3d gaming

I’ve rewrite so many times the card that i’m not sure to have the original one. My fault. Tomorrow i‘ll post the one i suppose to be the original one. Now i’m with the tablet and it’s too late.
Thanks a lot Mrpotatohead

Lets see if i can find 1 bios that is most current for you.

Now the thing is have you pulled the heatsink, cleaned the gpu die and heatsink off, then reapplied thermal compound to the gpu die?

Have you looked at the thermal pads?

Have you dusted the heatsink and fan?

It's possible ram volts may need a bump.

This is the latest bios for your card

Hi! I've tested the card with other two monitors. It's related to the gpu.

@ MrPotatoHead
Hi! In the attachment you'll find my actual bios. Thanks again.

@ eidairaman1 Hi!
I clean the pc components every three month but never have dismantle the gpu card. Do you think that could be related to the thermal compound or dust?
I'm waiting before open it because I've written to Sapphire and waiting for responses. If they can't solve my problem or refuse RMA (warranty expired only one month ago), then i'll open and clean it. With the bios that you suggest, the card is not recognised by windows... 0 core and memory clock (see the jpeg). Thanks!

I would clean the heatsink of dust and replace the gpu die thermal compound.

Are you running MSI Afterburner or AMD Wattman, ir Sapphire Trixx?

If you are restore both utilities to default.

Get Display driver uninstaller

Get your motherboard chipset driver from intel or amd.

Get your gpu driver.

Use display driver uninstsller first. Run it twice in windows, once in safe mode. Restart when prompted.

Install your motherboard chipset driver, restart your system.

Install your gpu driver. Restart.

I've tryed a couple of times Afterburner, before. But now I've reinstalled only windows 1903, chipset and gpu drivers (with DDU in safe mode).
I have the same artifacts also on archlinux with KDE plasma as Desktop Environment. But after configuring properly compositor, they are gone.
I start to suspect about timings problem on vram in p0 ad p1 states, because on gaming and working in 2d i have zero problems. Only on login screen, if i install amd drivers without audio, settings etc.
This thing is driving me mad ! :kookoo::laugh:

In the attachment file you can see the behavior of the gpu during a gaming session. No crash, no problem.

try different os maybe? i was abt to rollback my win10 update acident too(suspecting this is the culprit of nvidia freezing ingame), forgot to say that i once seen smiliar issue like vertical green bar flickering on user login, forget which card that i used, i think asus strix, anyway its not continous like yours, as i can say 1803 is the best for gaming, less error issue, for the other 10 ver, i can tell thats bad, lot error like random usb port malfunction, crash, freezing, audio, etc etc, yes this is my personal experience on win10, not rly againts that, but im start to thinking downgrade my pc rig so than i can use win7:)
note: im using demo verision of win10
it could be different from license users, so dont make conlusion that i just talking bad about win10, peace:toast:
