Scythe looks to up their game in the low-profile CPU cooler market with the Shuriken 2. Like its larger siblings, this ultra-compact cooler delivers exceptional performance for its size with no excess noise because of a well-designed slim 92 mm fan.

I dont get why they make these that does not fit node 202. They are loosing big potential sales.they did the same with shruiken 3 as well.

Fractal should have just made the Node 202 a few mm taller to accommodate taller SFF coolers. Less than 1cm of extra height would allow them to fit larger and more powerful coolers without affecting the look of the case. While it would be nice to have more manufacturers make coolers smaller than 60mm without going all the way down to 35mm unfortunately making SFF coolers is already a niche market and I can't imagine any manufacturer willing to make 4-5 products with varying heights that compete in that space. Most manufacturers simplify it by including mounting hardware for thicker fans so you can add them yourself for more performance if you have the height to spare. If Scythe had made this smaller to fit in the Node 202 they very well might have sacrificed even more performance than they already did against slightly larger coolers like the Noctua L9x65 just to add compatibility with a single case.

Setting that aside, this comes with a 16mm thick fan. Replacing it with a 14mm thick Noctua A9-x14 would get you down to 56mm - the exact listed max cooler height of the Node 202. You can also remove the thick dust filter on the Node 202 case lid and replace it with a thinner filter or external magnetic filter to get another 3-5mm of clearance and leave the stock fan on this Shiruken 2.

Maybe i misread it but i believe 58mm height is only for the heatsink not wih fan included.maybe i misread it. I dont know.

The table at the beginning lists 58mm with the fan and zooming in on the specs on the side of the box in some of the photos confirms it. Interestingly, the table on the first page shows 15mm fan thickness (so does Amazon's listing for the Kaze Flex 92 Slim) but the side of the box in the photos and the listing on Scythe's website say the fan is 16mm thick.

For the Node 202, just like the Dan A4, use a Noctua L9i/a with a fan duct. Far less noise and similar temperature results.

Nice little heatsink. Good that it can accommodate 25mm fans, too. I got a 3D-printed frame for my C7Cu for a standard fan and put a Noctua 92mm on it. Nice and quiet.

If you remove the filter on the 202 if memory serves me right this cooler should fit.

I had to scroll down very very far to see those temperature results. not sure how this gets a highly recommended away. I understand your reasoning cause of its size and all, just maybe we should a "good enough award" not highly recommended only lol

You under estimate the SFF crowd. Many of these systems wont fit AIOs or people get obsessed over certain cases like the Node 202. While technically the Scythe cooler shouldn't fit in the Node 202, if a user removes the dust filter it should fit.

I think that writing "Lack of RGB" in both advantages and disadvantages looks hilarious. I thing that write nothing instead of this would be better

I took it as satisfying both points of view. Personally I don't care about RBG and look at it's lack as plus. Others like it. To each his own. ;)

The performance fior what it is is rather nice. The sze seems perfect for anyone who wants a nice SFF component. I would probably use this in the Travel PC I am thinking of building.

Pretty much as NastyHabits pointed out, if i don't include it people bitch if I do include it people bitch if I don't keep a cooler on hand I reviewed 5 years ago people bitch. Since I have a habit of not satisfying people (yes joke was intended) I just ignore it now but I digress. Some love RGB some hate it, thats life. :toast:
