mom's friend gave me an ipad 3 (ios9) and I reset it but the activation lock was still there but they gave me the password and I was able to successfully setup the ipad like new and everything is ok but will my mom;s friend still have access to the ipad still or me setting it up like new after they gave me the login get rid of their access?

just trying to see if they will still have access to the ipad or not

i would set it up as new ipad, then reset it all to factory settings, then set up as new ipad again just to make sure

I don't know anything about Apple though, so maybe wait for someone else to respond...

1. Settings - Account - Find My. Turn off.
2. Settings - General - Transfer or Reset iPad - Reset.

If you did that you’re fine.

I reset using itunes in dfu mode thinking it would remove the account but it reset everything but it had activation lock and my mom's friend gave me the login and then I set up as new

do I have to do another reset? or do I have to get them to do anything else?

same as told above:

You have "activation lock" - you enter prev. owner apple id credentials - then go into settings - apple id - then find something like "log out from apple id". Then you put your apple id/create one.

I entered mine in there when they asked to setup as new.. I did not readd moms friends info

when you look in settings, at the top if it has no name, it has no ones account on it. so if you log in with your apple details, any previous owner will have no access to it.
