Hello,

Running a over 10 year old Noctua D14 with some later added RGB fans now. With my 7800X3D I get over 83C with Cinebench.
Sneakypeet form TPU makes reviews for over at Tweaktown and I checked that the Corsair iCUE H150i ELITE CAPELLIX XT, 360mm AIO has lowest temps on his up to date cooler temp comparision chart.
The D14 is not optimal anymore for Ryzen CPUs since I heard you need a cooler with somewhat convex plate/block to get best contact.
What makes me sceptical is that the AIO I want to get is from 2020 and thus might not be optimal too anymore.
Am I wrong and if yes is there any newer AIO I should look into?

No need to buy an AIO for 7800X3D, the compromises can make sense for high wattage parts if you're unable or unwilling to build a custom loop, and therefore do watercooling properly, but your CPU essentially never uses more than 80 watts.

Go for a newer Thermalright air cooler for a budget pick, or if you're comfortable with H150i ELITE CAPELLIX prices, the Noctua D15 G2, which should net a decent 5-10 C improvement over a D14, considering it's 4 C better than the D15, which is stronger than the D14. Noise profile of the D15 G2 is excellent too, which doesn't reflect in raw dBA readings.

Even something as simple as replacing your thermal paste could net 1-2 C.

I notice you're using LED fans on your D14, so these likely perform worse than the stock fans, too.

I've had my Corsair Hydro H150i ELITE CAPELLIX RGB 360 since 2021 and its still going great. I've had no temp problems running games in Ultra etc., and i'm not looking at upgrading or replacing it soon.

With my 7800X3D I get over 83C with Cinebench.
And?

Do you use your computer only to run synthetic benchmarks? Or do you use it to do real work that doesn't load the CPU to such unrealistic levels?

Not much else that heavy gaming. Ordered the D15 G2 to get my D14 its earned retirement. Have that cooler since Intel 3570k times. Also as far as I can tell my CPU doesnt boost to max frequency ATM
