following my benchmarks recommendation (signature link), im honestly afraid to OC my new gpu RTX 4070
seen video guide dozen times and still im wondering if i really need to OC when i dont play any of the AAA tier games used for test.

I mean, not really, no. In practice, there isn’t much to gain in term of real life performance from OCing GPUs nowadays. And they are often quite locked down by manufacturers, so extracting too much is borderline impossible. The Dual is a “budget” Asus model, so it’s not generous with the power limit. I am not sure that 1-2 frames is something that’s worth the hassle.

Was your bench run done using the Quiet or the Performance BIOS position on your card?

Because even if you were to OC from the Performance setting, you should gain ~5% FPS. So no, I don't think it's worth the effort.

If you have to ask, no. There's such a minimal gain that unless you're competing for benchmark scores you're more likely to break your card than see any gains.

Stop running benchmarks and just enjoy the games.

I just slide the power limit to max on my 4070 (+8%), it gives me some more boost.

thanks guys,
i wasnt keen on doing it, was just curious about a GPU labelled OC - if it came neutral from factory waiting to be boosted by user.
yes, i put the gpu on QUIET mode

The factory OC is fine, you can use OC position if you have a switch on the card and not play with custom overclock, that OC slider means you will use the factory default OC - that is tested by the manufacturer and considered safe. For example my friend has an Ultimate edition RX6900 with Silent and OC Bios switch positions, and he is using the OC of course. The Silent mode has -125MHz less GPU frequency. Usually the manufacturer overclocks 3-10%, but not more. Enthusiast grade cards have extra 10-20% OC, but they are usually cooled with an AIO.

Unless you are benchmark maxxing, there is no reason to OC a new GPU.
When I pick up a new GPU, the first task at hand is to get it configured stable under its default state.
It sounds like setting factory defaults but I set mine to behave specifically for VR apps and that gets temperamental.
The next step is textbook underclocking. If load balancing is working right, you can undervolt.

I don't overclock because i have to but because i want to.
RTX 4000 overclocks great. My 4070 Super gained almost 12% and is faster than the average 4070 Ti in most 3DMark benchmarks.
Gained "150€" in performance by moving three sliders.
