I have been looking at videos and talking to friends of mine that have sim racing setups to see how far down the rabbit hole I want to go. One has a midrange setup and the other has a high-end setup with feedback on the pedals and seat and both compete online. Though I think for me I will go the midrange setup, even if I decided to compete online.

So far, I did order a Moza R3 non-Xbox kit for (300$) and the optional clutch pedal (43.00$) and break dampener 29.00$ to get started.

I plan on setting them up on my desk at first and see how I like it, then from there if I do like it, I will go the next level and get a cockpit and seat. The one cockpit I am looking at is the Next Leve Racking Victory (300$), which has good reviews, but I am open to other suggestions.

The games I think I will start off with, will be Assetto Corsa, Assetto Corsa Competizione, Project CARS, WRC Generations, WRC 10. I don't know if any these will need added hardware, like shifters and hand breaks to get the full effect from these games.

That one looks great. I wish I had bought that one when I bought my rig in the spring of 2023. I've been using a Next Level Racing GT Lite which has been decent but I could probably count the number of times I've folded it on one hand. It's not a bad rig per se, just not the most comfortable or sturdy compared to the Victory.

That mainly depends on what cars you want to drive. If you don't mind using paddle shifters for every car and you're OK with using a button handbrake, then you won't need anything more. I have a cheap H-pattern shifter because quite a few cars have H-pattern manual gearboxes, but I also used paddle shifters for a while and I can say that it's fine with most cars. As far as the games, I'd rather play EA Sports WRC than the other WRC games (I've played WRC 8 because it was on sale and I didn't like it that much). Also, get BeamNG.drive, you will enjoy it.

I am finding that out about using manual shifters and clutch pedals, both of my friends have them and have said the same thing. On the hand break, my one Frend says it is worth getting as it make the drifting and Rally driving more fun, but I will see.

How is the EA sport WRC game over all? The reviews make it look like it needs allot of work still. I will also take a look at BeamNG.drive, this is also one I have not heard of, so thanks for the heads up.

I've been playing it since February of this year and it has been great. As long as you have a decent PC you'll be fine. If you don't like it for whatever reason, you should refund it and buy Dirt Rally 2.0 instead. EA Sports WRC is also very noob-friendly as well.

Well, I got my Moza R3 Kit, and I am liking it. I have been playing Assetto Corsa and Dirt Rally 2.0 with it to start out. I can see why allot of people get a wheel stand in the beginning, mounting to the desk with the pedals laying on the floor sucks. I did though make a wooden sloped platform for the pedals which helped allot with them moving all over the floor when pressed.

So, what do your racing/flight sim setups look like? I am trying to get a few ideals for my sim setup.

Well I have the Moza HGP Shifter and it’s great and matched with your rig you have the option for it to “auto blip” for clean downshifts

For flight I have a Logitech X-56

The reviews are really good on the Moza HGP shifter, but I was thinking of getting the SGP sequential with the HPB hand break for Drit Rally 2.0 and EA WRC games and sticking to the paddle shifters for Assetto Corsa/comp and Race Room.

Your Logitech X-56 setup looks like a pretty nice setup for flight.

I mean I guess if you’re a rally fan a 2nd more immersive sequential sure If I was going to buy a separate shifter in your case I’d go for this because it can do both manual and sequential

One thing I'd advise you to do before committing to a rig and other upgrades would be to put decent play hours in with your current setup to see if you like sim racing enough to warrant it. I bought a Moza R5 and my folding rig (the rig came first because I had a G920 on my desk) because I knew that I'd use them very often due to me liking the hobby. It wouldn't be great if you dropped a lot of money on a rig and stuff just to not have fun with it or use it much.

Just an update......

I bought the Next Level Racing Victory Cockpit, Universal Hand Break plate, and their Light Free Monitor Stand. I used a code from one of the YouTube reviewers to save some money on them.

So far, I am pretty happy with the setup for what I have spent on it. The only think I am waiting for is the Moza round 12-inch replacement wheel for rally sport driving, I also think it will be a lot better for GT racing as well. Though they do have the F1/ New GT style wheel as well for the ES hub.

Not bad! I'd really prefer the Victory over what I have, but my GTLite is good enough. Also, if I were you, I'd find a way to mount the speakers to the monitor stand so they're much closer to you.

Funny you would say that, because I just did that today. I bought 2 inches by 4 inches Velcro strips and stuck the speckers to the side of the monitor stand to get them closer.
