SM Bus Driver

hey guys so recently i put together a new build. i was able to update all drivers but this one MS Bus driver here is image, and new build
MOBO ASUS z97 pro gamer
CPU i7 4790K
PSU antec 1000w
GPU EVGA GTX 680
tower Antec twelve hundred v3
Cooling Stock CPU at moment, plus all case fans working

I see no image attached.

Go into Device Manger, go to properties of the device, then go to Details tab.

Under Property, choose Hardware Ids.

You should be able to search the second entry and find a driver...for example, my Realtek PCIE device string is: PCI\VEN_10EC&DEV_5229&SUBSYS_501817AA

With Asus devices like that, the driver is usually the ACPI driver in my experience. That might help you find what you need, though be careful where you download the drivers from a lot of semi or totally illegit sites will come up. Search more for forum posts and links directly to Asus.

A quick Google search of "Asus Z97 sm bus controller" came up with this link: http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/329472-30-controller-installed

That might contain the answer and download for you.

Why do you think it needs updating? Are you getting an error?

Just checking my SM Bus Driver on this W10 system, the driver is ancient - version 10.0.10586.0 dated 6/21/2006.

A buddy of mine just built a skylake system. Same issue. I pointed him to the latest chipset driver from intel, which so far I've only found on guru3d.com. Made him update his management interface engine driver as well. Fixed it.
Prob just needs the updated chipset though.

Go onto the asus site for your board and get on the driver/software page and can you look for and try this please (Intel(R) Management Engine Interface) it will be under utilitys.

Link is for windows 10 64bit though as not sure what os your using

I would just delete it, shutdown and unplug from the wall for about 10 seconds then boot up and see what happens. I don't generally recommend using drivers from the device maker for devices integrated into motherboards. So if me, I would stick with ASUS.

I note mine is located under System Devices, not Other Devices - for whatever that is worth.

Does your computer work fine otherwise?

As far as i remember the SM bus driver only needs the Management Engine Interface but i would still install the chipset driver aswell if you have not done it yet or if its newer than the ones you have installed.

Improve system stability.
should i dl as well, or run the ezbios update from desktop? they say for 6th gen processors to use this bios for more stable system

That's very strange Win 10 didn't install the smbus driver. Have you ran Windows Updates?

The MEI comes up as a missing PCI device if no driver is installed. SMBUS driver should install from the chipset software driver package.

Try this Chipset Software package: Chipset Software 10.0.27

Sorry but this is not the case for everyone, on my mobo i have to install chipset drivers but i am still left with the SMbus driver and that gets sorted when i install the Management Engine.

im dl MEI file now. howver also DL a game through steam 22 gigs so i have 12 min left . btw is 30 deg C good for core temp at idle? also looking at my Utilization CPU 0 is 100 rest around 50%. how come only 1 is 100
