I don't really know where to put this, since there is no chair or peripheral related forum (didn't find one) on here, so, here goes:

This is the chair I'm using now (oh God, I know):
IMG_20171218_205106.jpg

I've been thinking of buying myself a proper "gaming" chair for some time now. I've been using a basic office chair for a couple of years and it's really starting to show it's age. I mean, everything is falling off, it lost all of it's softness and it's killing my ass and back on a daily basis (4 hours a day at least). Now there's this company called UVI Chair and they make some damn nice seats but the prices? The cheapest model goes for over 300€ and I'm not paying that much for a chair.

I found a cheap alternative, that makes me want to shit my pants because of the price difference. Check this out:
game1.jpggame2.jpgdsc-6052-web.jpgdsc-6057-web.jpg
Specs:
Chair Size: W66 x D72 x H123-131 cm
Seat cushion: W53 x D54
Back cushion: W54 x H82 cm
Seat height: 45-53 cm

It's has huge functionality with things like customizable arm rests, extra cushions you can put on, it can be totally "folded" back etc. Made by a local company, goes for 99,90 + tax (121.88 € in total) and I think I can't really go wrong with it. Doesn't seem like a smart idea to pay 400€ for a Uvi Chair alternative.

Do you think it would fit the setup?

Well, for $99 bucks it looks okay. I doubt you'll be pleased with the quality of it. Certainly better than most things at any office supply store .

It's really decent quality, fake leather ofc, but yes, I had the same reaction when I found it.

It's actually made by a company in Slovenia that ships chairs of all shapes and sizes worldwide. Check THEM out, maybe you have their chairs at home and you don't even know about it. Their products are generally high quality and I expect nothing less from this one.

I've already inquired about it and I'm waiting for them to respond. It's 9 PM here so I have to wait until tomorrow.

The wheels look like they will break first, but for that price it's not bad.

I hate the wheels design, but hey, I think they're fine for the price and you can change them anyways.

That chair looks like a standard Merax design or at least whatever they use along with other chair companies for their "gaming "chairs . not bad, not great, but certainly good.

Something I've learned over the years in regards to computer/office chairs. Don't ever purchase a "gaming" titled chair. Generally unless you're willing to spend above $200 to $300, you're going to get something that looks flashy, but doesn't really have much in the way of comfort or quality. Instead , id recommend what I tell those who ask what they should get when purchasing a computer chair, the following.

first:
If it's on carpet you don't need wheels, and you actually shouldn't have wheels since carpet will be delaminated by the constant rolling of wheels on top of it (without a protector). unless your not concerned about the carpet.

second:
Flashy functions like massage or heating etc. are to be avoided unless you're spending a lot of money, because chair companies idea of massage is generally a glorified vibrator , nothing other than vibranting ,& it gets annoying fast.

Third:
Instead I'd recommend anything under the search title of "big and tall" or "executive" etc. I actually picked up a decent chair at my local Walmart that has Sealy Posturepedic padding for the arms and seat as well as back. And I had another one with memory foam. Both of which cost less than $120, and lasted years and I'm 260+lbs, 6'5".

Finally:
don't bother looking for anything with "leather" because unless you're spending over several hundred dollars it's not going to be leather it's going to be PUleather or whatever they title the poly urethane crap....i cant imagine why they call it leather, other than to fool, or market it to uninformed buyers, its as much leather, as a rubber chicken is food.

Good luck with your search.

@jboydgolfer, thank you for this very nice and in-depth opinion about chairs. I really haven't bought one yet myself, so this is some quality information. I will probably visit the store tomorrow or maybe on Wednesday so I'll make sure to test out most of what they have to offer in my price point. OFC sitting in it and trying it first is mandatory.

I take it the legs and gas strut on the existing chair works well enough?

Why not just go to a scrapyard and pick up a nice leather seat from a real car? You might need to make a plywood plate to bolt to the chair top, then into the runner on the underside of the chair but height increases won't be a problem as most of us use a chair at full height anyway.

Regarding the current situation that question bugs me a lot. Let me respond with a question of my own: does your current chair fit in with your current setup?

I found the product link here: http://www.skerjanc.com/en/office-chairs-and-tables/comfortable-office-chair-game

The "Game" part is mostly marketing. A good office chair (to me) should also make a good game chair, and vise versa.

I’ve seen worse (in reference to your current chair).

The “Gaming” chair looks “meh”. Bunch of cheap plastic trim, and certainly not something I’d pay 122€ for. Are you sure It’s actually made there, and not just imported from PRC? It sure looks like the SC8002 from GB.

I can’t stress enough the fact that you really shouldn’t buy cheap chairs. Especially not ones you’re planning on using with a conjunction of a PC. You get distracted, and end up slouching. Which leads to an improper posture. Which in a couple of years adds up….

My advice:
Since you're from Slovenia, why not buy a used Spinalis chair?
I purchased two of the higher end models for about a third of the retail price on eBay.
I’m sure you can find them even cheaper locally. Great for my busted up back, and plenty off comfort.

OFC sitting in it and trying it first is mandatory.

just keep in mind, a chair can be comfortable for 10 minutes, and Hell for 20 minutes. If You think you have a choice in mind, while your at the store, google the chair, and see what those who have owned that model for a month or longer have to say. It makes it a LOT less difficult if your smaller, or average size. Both in chair lifespan, & in comfort. I need a chair that fits my fat a$$, but if your only 190Lbs, or so, a normal chair would likely work fine. The reason i suggest looking into chairs titled "big n tall" or similar, is that they tend to have more durable build quakity some times, and thats never a bad thing.

i hope you find a chair that suits you well.
Best of Luck:toast:

Well, today I went to the store, I sat on it, I "drove" it around a bit, got a feel for it and... I bought it. I've been sitting on it for the past 3 hours, back feels great because of that cushion you get, and I also like that you can recline the chair in a lot of different angles, so I can fit it to be good for straight sitting (web browsing, keyboard/mouse use) or feeling like you're in an F1 car while using the wheel. Also, the armrests are padded and height is adjustable. I LOVE IT!

IMG_20171219_174909.jpg

My "humble bundle" is finally getting together. Thanks for all the help, I just hope it will last me a long time and I wish it isn't too warm in the summer :D

I was going to say if anyone has back problems, I do not recommend getting a "gaming" chair. They are terrible for people who need to maintain good posture.

No man, that chair is moldy as f... Soon, fungus will start growing

I'm actually curious as to how your rig looks @OP :D New chair does look SWEET with that black and white theme alongside it.

Jeez, and I still use an old wooden Soviet-made kitchen chair. The back is straight though

Lemme guess.. because it just won't break?

But my back feels sooooooooo good with this chair. Seriously.
@MxPhenom 216 is quite right. If you want ergonomics, get a regular office chair, not these stand-in racing car seats. These are meant to keep your body in a fixed position and provide comfort, an ergonomic chair is meant to keep your muscles healthy - for that, it needs to be slightly less comfortable and provide support where the body needs it - not where it 'wants' it.

Note even an office chair isn't ideal. If you really have back problems, move towards this; and you will probably be surprised at the comfort it does give, even though looking at it screams the opposite:

But my back feels sooooooooo good with this chair. Seriously.

Do you have bad back problems? Itll definitely depend on severity. But those chairs with just the pillow seem like less than ideal.

I LOVE IT!

My "humble bundle" is finally getting together. Thanks for all the help, I just hope it will last me a long time and I wish it isn't too warm in the summer :D

Nice, fasten your seatbelt ;) nice improvement in the aesthetic dept too lol

The lumbar support pillow would be a must for me, I wonder if those chairs can be had here in the US

The old chair wasn't moldy at all. Just coffee stains and... Stains :D

My back problems aren't that bad, after all I'm 20, but I've started a new job and it's a bit harsh on my back, combining that with the bad chair from before and I've had some pain in my back for about a week now.

I literally feel better already today.

@Vayra86 , the PC is black and white too, can't you see it? Haha. Or do you mean the inside?

I think that's the thing that's helping my back, because it also hurts right there, when it does.

My lower back started bothering me in my 20's. Several more injuries later, it's manageable with exercise, using a inversion table a few times a week... and sitting in a good chair at work! Ironically, the lumbar support in my car just broke over the weekend, the dealer is fixing it tomorrow. And I really noticed it when driving without it.
