Ever since i upgraded from a 1070 to 4070 Ti (couple of months ago) i'm experiencing sporadic black screens after booting up the PC. I see the BIOS post followed by the spinning balls circle, and then it stays black. It looks like it booted fine, as there is nothing unusual reported in the Windows log files.

I have to shutdown by holding the power button for a couple of seconds and then it boots fine (usually).

Mind you, i did a clean install of Windows 2 days ago and it's still happening.

Seems it the issue was CRU, i used that to delete 4096x2160 from my TV, but it seems that screws up the EDID.

Did a clean install (DDU) about 3 weeks ago, stopped using CRU and it hasn't happend anymore.

So, i started using CRU again two weeks ago and may have found what caused the problem.

Instead of "deleting" the 4096x2160 resolution, i simply edited all values to be the same as their 3840x2160 counter parts, and so far the black logon screen problem hasn't occured anymore.

I guess it's because the extension block remains the same size now, and appears unaltered as far as the NVIDIA driver is concerned.
