Upon opening my Steam sometime ago i saw my S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games were updated with Enhanced Editions (EE). From what i understood so far these might be the worst EE releases for any PC game ever?

1. All the mods those were working fine in original games will not work in Stalker EE?
2. You can find much better graphical overhauls for original games in the mods than what these new editions offer?
3. The enhanced editions don't fix any of the original bugs, unlike custom mods, but even add more problems?
4. You can not type a name for your custom "anytime" save (which was perfectly fine in the original games)?
5. Enhanced editions remove all "Russian/Soviet" items/game objects, including Russian language and thus absolutely destroying the authenticity of the game, which made Stalker great in the first place?

Is this serious? Incorporating Russian censorship is the worst thing that could have been done to the franchise. The art/level design of the game was deliberately created with having Soviet era markers, objects and slangs in the game, and the atmosphere we all felt during our playthroughs was partly present due to that fact! The basis (idea) of the game, that was so successfull for that time, was to sync a modern, sci-fi based, tactical shooter with Soviet era social reality, esthetics and art style (everyone was tired SICK of Call of Duty western monotony at that time and games like Stalker and Bioshock were the saving grace we all needed in 2007). Removing a huge part of what made Stalker games great is like removing all the elements in Bioshock those indicate that it was a game based in 1959, nevermind it's sci-fi stuff.

Even on a personal level, while not being a Russian, but speaking Russian and English absolutely fine and without accent, i prefer to play games like Stalker and Metro in Russian, just because it is more authentic and enjoyable to me! A lot of Russian slang, jokes and sayings do not translate into English, because they loose their charm and purpose. This is something that every nation has. In the context of Ukraine invasion, i fully support Ukraine and would love to see Putin hanged, but being homophobic like that by removing cultural game features, which were part of the game design is just a CASTRATION OF THE GAME.

Noone should play these Enhanced Editions! NOT A SINGLE REAL ORIGINAL STALKER FAN WILL PLAY THIS SHIT!

I played the EE of the SOC game and enjoyed it. I appreciated the longer grass draw distance and maybe a bit better lighting (not sure if that really is better in the EE). Don't care about mods and don't care about russian/soviet stuff being removed. But I sure do enjoy when russian boys cry on the internet when their national pride gets hurt, that is the best part of the EE for me!

I played Shadow Of Chernobyl EE, finished it a day or two ago. As above, don't care about mods. I enjoy how it runs, even on my GTX1650 laptop GPU, had only about 2-3 crashes.
As to removing Russian/Soviet stuff, yeah ... 2007-2010 were a lot different than post 2014, so, their games, their choice. And as long as the Enhanced Editions are free, i can't complain.
PS: i last played SOC more than 10 years ago, i don't remember what has been removed anyway :))
