STALKER SoC Realism mod v1.5

Yes its that time again people. I have done extensive research on how Global Illumination, clipping, and photons interact with eachother in STALKER to deliver THE ULTIMATE visual experience. This is much improved over any other GI implementations in previous Realism mods.

Comparisons:

Realism mod v1.45

All settings @ maximum + Realism mod enhancements 1680*1050
10-12FPS near ligh sources at night

Realism mod v1.5

All settings @ maximum + Realism mod enhancements 1680*1050
30+ FPS near light sources at night.

Installation

Extract the user.ltx file to your STALKER-SHOC folder. If you do not know where this folder is use the Windows search feature.

Much enhanced Global Illumination for high resolution gaming
Default resolution now 1680*1050

Feel free to post before and after screenshots of any user.ltx file you may be currently using. I'll upload some screenshots later of the v1.5 mod.

im such a noob, i cant get this to work, isnt there a file im supposed to edit? its been a while since i touched SoC

Do a Windows search for a STALKER-SHOC folder, replace the user.ltx file in that folder with the one in the zip archive, thats all there is to it.

The realism mod should work with any version of STALKER.

In the console just type rs_stats off.

Yea their the controls I use, for me their slick. Never have liked that WSAD shit, its fucked up.

At the moment I've not actually found any changes ( settings on maximum) I'm in the Garbage area just going into the large warehouse.

What should I be looking out for ?

I'm probably not paying attention.

This mod is graphical realism. Its as much eyecandy as I can cram into the little ltx file, other eyecandy such as actual light from campfires and such is all.spawn based.

oh my switching the torch on takes my FPS to 10 XD

I don't think my graphics card can fully take advantage of this mod without killing it all dead.


Although saying that, after going back to normal settings with everything on max, the games general frame rate is around 15 instead of 30.

I think I will use your mod and just have low FPS when its dark because a 15 fps increase is nothing to scoff at!

how does that even work? ha ha

Its works because unlike the devs who made Stalker, I know how to get X-Ray performing at its best

Sooo, I dont notice any changes, other than when I turn on the flash light my framerate goes down to 30 fps.

Then, your quite blind then This mod enhances many aspects, I'll list what I can remember off the top of my head;

- Better FPS
- Enhanced textures
- Enhanced LOD
- Crisper graphics
- Enabled & enhanced Global Illumination
- Enhanced shiny/wet/metallic surfaces
- Enabled Bloom
- Enhanced shadows
- Enabled Motion Blur
- Enhanced Parallax Mapping
- Tweaked sun lighting
- Enabled/tweaked Tonemap
- Enhanced Anistropic Filtering (something thats broken within the game UI and has no effect when enabling it in the driver CP)
- Increased sound cache size for smoother gameplay (cache doesn't need to empty so often) and to enable the game to play more sounds at any one time, greatly increasing immersion.

No, most of it you can notice. You just have to wait for the right weather conditions for some things. Global Illumination is one thing you can check out very easy though. Switch to a generic user.ltx file and pay sid a visit, look at the back of his...err..shop? Notice the lamp, doesn't cast any light does it? Now use the modded ltx file and check that lamp out. You will see light reflecting off the tiles and customised Groza OC-14 on the bench. If you still can't see what I mean I'll dig up a screenshot.
