I have a question for laptop processor i7 9750H. This processor have base frequency 2.60 ghz and in turbo mode it goes to 4.10 Ghz.
My question : it is possible to stop this insane auto boost to 4.1 ghz?I mean, i want only base frequency. Is any way to stop auto bost for this processor in Bios or other way?

thanks in advance

Use ThrottleStop program and disable turbo boost. If it works, you can start this program automatically with Windows Scheduler.
In the bios most of the time you cannot disable turbo boost (with some laptops you can), but probably not with 9750H equipped notebooks.

I dont know about that program. But ThrottleStop from Techpowerup works for me with 8750H.

Have you tried the energy setting slider to the middle or to save energy, in Windows?
Same goes for windows 11 if you set it to 'Best Energy Effiency' or whatever, any laptop slows into a crawl because they won't use boost bins, almost.

i want to stop auto bost processor because ventilated space for this laptop model is bad and small.I mean gpu card is ventilated ok.The reach max temp is above 80 degree, but CPU temp is inadmisible ...is going to 90 degree. With this autobost i think this laptop is going to self suicide...

i must reinstall windows and change the display, and i will try all suggested. Thanks

I'm afraid because it takes too much auto-boost and automatically goes to 4 Ghz, even 4.5 Ghz. And the processor reaches the CRiTIC threshold of 90 degrees:confused:.
t if I block it at the basic frequency, maybe it heats up less and run cooler. That would be logical. The video card is somewhere at 70-80 degrees, let's say it's ok-ish..
I'm thinking of using Msi afterburner too for video graphic 2080, to lower the frequency of the memory and the clock, maybe the temperature will drop a little there as well.
All I want is to lower the temperature a few degrees if possible. In the IT area, every minus degree counts, and every minus degree can extend the life of the components

Try changing the Maximum processor state in Power Options to 99%. This is an easy way to disable Intel Turbo Boost.

@Lewzke
Do not use ThrottleStop 9.0. Download the latest version, ThrottleStop 9.6.
this BS with power plan playing is mesosoic era. even with dynosaur i5-6200U restricting CPU usage still uses turbo. TS ftw.

Did you try making the change I suggested in the Windows Power Options settings? Setting the Maximum processor state to 99% is an easy way to disable turbo boost.
DOESN'T WORK even on 6th gen Intels, so how it will work with newer ones. Use TS, works stable.

I have sh*tty cheap-cooled ASUS "TUF" F15 i5-10300H & GTX 1650. This 14 nm dynosaur heats up with turbo like crazy, and pipes are shared with 1650. Even with 2.50 GHz base, cpu could heat in games bcuz of heat transferred from GPU by pipe, so base is only way lol. Tried MX-6 (don't want to mess up with ya "Honeywell" pad BS) and still doesn't help, so I'll use it till it dies lol.
I use ThrottleStop to disable turbo, it works. Windows 10 or 11 power plan cpu usage reducing from 100% max DOESN'T WORK ANYMORE. PLZ FORGET IT, THANKS.

Love it that you're arguing with the creator of TS, about using TS.

Anyway, if neither TS or Windows Power Plans work, sounds like a driver is missing.
EDIT: Could be Intel's Dynamic Tuning, or the general chipset controller hub. Look into Intel's Driver and Support Assistant.

You can also disable turbo/boost through BIOS/UEFI most likely, so that is also an option you could explore (actually, I do not know if Legion 3s have it, but most Lenovo ThinkPads do).

if it's "business oriented" laptop, then there will POSSIBLY be option to disable turbo. if it's consumer grade laptop, MOST LIKELY, YOU'LL GET NO LUCK ;):D

Not bragging, but I've not used consumer-grade laptops for a decade or so.
Reasons aside, back when I actually was more in contact, so very-late Core 2/early Core i, you could still disable turbo/boost, HT and half the cores.
If that isn't possible anymore, I wager consumer-grade has indeed become even worse than it was.

Setting the Minimum and Maximum processor state to 99% in Windows works correctly on both my 4th Gen laptop and on my 10850K desktop. This trick should work OK as long as ThrottleStop is not running in the background. If ThrottleStop is running, it can override this Windows setting. Maybe that is why you think this setting does not work. Reducing both processor state values to 99% slows my 10850K down from 5000 MHz to 3500 MHz.

Not everyone is comfortable using ThrottleStop. The 101 settings can be overwhelming for some users. There are other users that cannot or will not use any third party utilities. They might have a work laptop that prevents them from installing anything to it. Adjusting the Windows power plan can be an alternate way to slow down a hot running Intel CPU.

If I owned a laptop with a 9750H and I was allowed to install ThrottleStop, I would install it immediately. It is a little complicated at first but not that bad. I might not recommend TS to my grandparents but that is mostly because they are dead. For everyone else with an Intel CPU, especially laptop owners with a hot running 9750H, learning ThrottleStop should be at the top of your things to do list. There are lots of YouTube videos available and over 1600 unique forum topics posted on TechPowerUp alone.

Sending the power state to Balanced or Power Saver is typically all it takes to turn off the maximum clock ramp.
1719608315180.png

I'm still in the habit of pinning the initial clockspeed and turning off boost clocks because they cause random instability in my work and certain games, so the static speed is desired.
1719608517055.png

Taking the min/max power state off of triple digits typically does the same thing but a lot of Intel hardware doesn't respect these settings.
It's for that reason that people will turn to Throttlestop, as it handles the situation just fine.
Most of my stuff is AMD and doesn't have these issues but I also have that habit of pinning the default clock sooooo I would try that first.
