Just redid my loop, and my temps are not great.

I'm told a single PA120.3 will handle my 920 and 5970, the gpu temps are great. cpu however is not so great.

as I type this I'm at 45c idle and I don't want to know load, Would adding a single swiftech 120 to the loop improve anything or hurt the flow to much to be of benefit?

I'm going to swap out my fans for some Scythe 1900rpm 110cfm fans today and see if that helps

4.3GHz at 1.40vcore, block contact is very good.

I have the loop apart adding the second rad, plus some new scythe 110cfm fans should help.
I really doubt the second 120 rad is going to help much but it will look nice

The second rad will hlep lower water temp, possibly affect all temps. Are you pumping into block, or directly into rad?

Depending on ambient temperatures, I do not believe that is bad at your overclock.

What are your load temperatures?

i'm quite interested to see what temps you get after adding the 120mm rad :)

I pump in to rad then to cpu , I've added the second rad and have a 3c average drop on all cores :( Plus I've swapped out the fans for Scythe 110cfm fans

I hope maybe another 2c drop once the tim cures

What are your load temperatures?

ambient is 22c, load is 72c hottest core

and its only 72* with like IBT?

thats prime, I have yet to give IBT a run... loop is bleeding now I'll do a quickie 5 loop run to see what it hits

it hit 77c hottest core with IBT

thanks, I'd like a little lower idle temp but I guess load is what matters more than anything.

Not bad temperatures.

I get ~38° to ~44° idle, ~70° max on my 950 (4273 MHz @ 1.35V) with ~23° ambient doing 20 passes of LinX with 25K problem size. PA140.3.

Also, the further from TjMax the temperature is, the more inaccurate it is.

That is why idle temperatures are not as important as load temperatures.

have you checked the water temp?
maybe it all works fine but just lack of heat dissipation
adding fan would improve the cooling or what water that you use?

I had a swiftech 240 rad with a 900LPH pump and a Apogee GT block on my I7 920 and got about 43-45deg idle and around 78 deg full load. this was just with a CPU in the loop only. My current air setup gets better temps than the water did but I suspected the block since it was a old AM2/775 block

I've changed the fans out to Scythe Kaze PWM
The pump out 110cfm at 1900rpm, I'm running at about 1000 rpm atm

rads are internal, I know external would yield better temps but I don't like the look of it so I'm prepared to take a slight temp increase for the cleaner look.

I've got a HeatKiller 3.0 Nickle Plated so I doubt the block is my issue, I did recently clean it out and it was gummed up pretty bad with Fesser dye so it's clean as a whistle now and running straight distilled only

Yeah, those dyes are junk. They gunk up tight blocks, and stain a lot of stuff. Distilled + biocide is the best way. Try using some 3000rpms and see if it makes a difference. Higher pressure fans can offset lack of disipation area.

And try making it intake to suck in cool air, thats as close to an external rad you will get without dismantling the whole loop. See if that would make any temp difference.

I had a cpu + gpu loop before with a tc120.3, and i did notice that I was having bad temps even with 1.5k rpm. Blasting the fans back to 2700rpm made temps a bit ok, and felt the rad lose some warmth.

Check the water temps as well see if its still within 10c degree delta water out to air in ambient on load. If it is, then the rads are doing their job perfectly in dissipating heat. In such a case, it might be the block not transfering heat efficiently to the water. You said it was gunked up before, there might be a thin layer of caked dye that needs some industrial grade detergent scrubbing. Your mounting pressure might be off as well.

Thanks for the suggestions.
That Fesser One looked very nice in the res but not worth the hassles, so I have a LED in the res now and colored tubing. Learned my lesson the hard way.

I use the HK 3.0 and set the mount pressure to 19.6mm with digital calipers as the instructions suggest.

I have noticed a temp drop after redoing the tim and replacing fans, I will check the water temp and compare it to ambient air , that is a very good suggestion.
Block was scrubbed very well so I doubt there is any residual left over but it is possible so maybe a quick look wouldn't hurt
