We have newly re-organized the TECHPOWERUP HWBOT TEAM, and we will inaugurate this with a contest to start off the new year. The goal is to get new and existing forum members signed up for our HWBOT team, and to familiarize everyone with the extensive benchmark submission rules. This challenge is to see who can earn the MOST AMOUNT of CONTEST POINTS for correct benchmark submissions. For newbies, expect a benchmark to take at least a few minutes, and for several minutes to properly capture your screenshot and submit to HWBOT. Do not be discouraged if you are asked to redo your submission, as part of our goal is accuracy.

COUNTDOWN TO EVEN START

COUNTDOWN TO EVENT FINISH

Rules:

- ENTER the contest by posting in this thread. Type IN [HWBOT Name].
- 10 points per correct HWBOT submission, ANY HWBOT benchmark.
- Must use official contest wallpaper as background for submission.
- List of benchmarks: https://hwbot.org/benchmarks
- Must be part of the TECHPOWERUP team.
Link
- No hardware limitations (server and workstations allowed).
- No redundant submissions.
- Contest runs 2025 January 1st 00:00 UDT until 2025 February 28th 23:59 UDT.
- Most points takes 1st place $150
- Second place $100
- Third place $50
- Payment via paypal, venmo, or cash app.

The team captains will tally the points occasionally, but we won't necessarily post a score update every day. Rules subject to change if needed (if somehow we overlooked something and it breaks the contest).

Correct submissions mean that it follows the HWBOT rules for the benchmark, and I encourage you all to rat on each other so that we can all practice on getting submissions correct. No redundant submissions means only the best score for the same hardware SKU for the same benchmark (no zero point submissions count). Staff encouraged to participate. Excluded from prizes: W1zzard, ir_cow, damric, ShrimpBrime, Solaris17, freeagent

Link to our new HWBOT Team Thread.

You are responsible for your own hardware. If damages occur, and sometimes they do, that is not the responsibility of this website or any of the users here.

Final points and submissions will be counted on March 1st 2025. Good luck and have fun!

Nice!

Want to cap this by saying you do NOT have to overclock your system and can use any type of PC to submit.

That means you can submit your laptop, gaming PC, work PC.

It's not about being the fastest with your hardware, but just simply making submissions on behalf of the TPU HWBot team.

Hope this helps clarify the rules a little.

Yes so first thing to do is go register your HWBOT account and join the team. I'll be checking regularly to accept the team requests.

There will be more "competitive" contests throughout the year as we grow the team. This first one is basically to get a lot of people registered and familiarized with the complex submission system.

So, I have a few questions on this and hwbot in general. I've seen previously where if you've already done a benchmark once, posting a new submission gives you negative points. I've already done several benchmarks as part of the TPU team, but it was before this revamp.
Do I redo them all with new screenshots (with the new background)?
Will I lose points for that on HWbot? Is that an issue?

I ask because it says above that no zero points submissions count and I don't understand what happens if I redo all my benchmarks with new submissions now...what happens? Does that just mean I'm basically not eligible for this contest because I've already submitted scores to hwbot?

I was under the impression (maybe falsely) that the primary goal with hwbot was to join the seasonal competitions, of which there are none currently running. Will doing a bunch of submissions now potentially make us unable to compete in those if there are redundant tests?

This is what I meant when I said I'm a hwbot noob in the other thread lol.

0 point is a sub you beaten with like hardware. The sub with highest score is earned as 1 submission.

It is not how many times you can run the same benchmark on the same hw.

Yes, you guys can still do competitions at hwbot. This is set up through TPU forums only and not using the hwbot platform other than making your submissions on the TPU team.

Only subs that count for this contest are those made in the next 60 days and they need to have at least a score greater than zero.

So rebench your old hardware and add another 5MHz :)

You shoudn't lose any points if you decide to update/improve a result with a given piece of hardware.
You also do not accumilate points by running the same hardware over and over again.
It's the best result with a given piece of hardware that nets points, all others that you've subbed but beaten go to 0 points because your best result supersedes all others you've submitted.

Here's an example from my profile and pay attention to what you see, only the very best result I've had with a given piece of hardware running a particular benchmark counts for points:

Benching example.png

I'm saying this and using this example so hopefully it's understood by anyone with such a question about it in the future.

IN, LUKE, OUT on prizes.

I'm still setting up one of my test benches, the one with the 3-way CrossfireX. I got it working, and now downloading and installing the bench library.

I see there is a new GPU benchmark, Breaking Limit. I'll have to run that one on my RX 6900XT :D

I did almost zero scoring benches last year, which was very sad. This is a decent excuse to get some done. Submitted a team request.

Can we just link directly to submissions and drop them here like this, and a bunch at once?

The rules committee ultimately decided they did not want the thread getting cluttered.

We will be counting subs from the team wall based on who followed the rules and especially rule #1.

Under submission on hwbot we can see what has been entered per user. Just need to match the TPU user to the HWBOT username.

However I do think editing a single post and adding your entries (that aren't zero points) to it would be easier to track. Though that can backfire from someone with hundreds of entries.

Honestly not sure how much versatile in searchability HWBOT has over a longer period of time. We will find out I guess :)

I will for sure probably have over a hundred or more subs. If I have to post them all in the thread, and can't just copy and paste the links to them from my wall, I probably can't participate.

I have a 1300X, 1600AF, 5500GT, 5600G, Skylake i3-6100 and two other weirdo Skylake chips to bench so it will probably be over 100 subs.

I've seen the HWBot wall glitch out before and just not show latest submissions after a certain number in a short period. There was a time I was doing 25-30 a day and submitting from BenchMate, it stopped logging them on the wall after about two days and didn't begin logging again until a week later.

This was on their previous site iteration though in early 2022. Don't know if this is still an issue with the latest overhaul.

Yeah that's why we have a tally now and then which I'm putting in a spreadsheet. It is not required, but might be helpful to keep track of your total number of subs for the next 60 days as well.
