So even with this broken comparison you shouldn't be charging more than 49,99 right?
Game price was fine, the inflation to 59,99 was palatable for a game of the caliber of Baldurs' Gate 3 or something, but definitely not for the umpteenth CoD or anything with post sale DLC of any meaningful size. 69,99 is taking the piss especially with a B-company game like Outer Worlds 2, even part 1 wasn't worth more than 39,99 imho, content wise. Its butt ugly, B-cast, weak sauce semi- RPG nonsense. 79,99.... heh well even MS hasn't got the heart to go there, knowing full well its priced way beyond sense even for adamant fans of this factory line - built product.
The rather more interesting move we have seen is that there are FAR more games available, new and developed at prices ranging between 19,99 - 39,99. Indies do that, and somehow, because there's no shareholder but just a community watching them, thats possible and the products are in fact better at this point too.
Its weird how easily people parrot what corporate thinks is normal as 'the norm'. Kindly leave your naive bullshit at the door ok? (not necessarily you - but in general, regarding the argument 'muh inflation').
We don't even need to list the economical changes to how games are made now. The proof is in the pudding. If you look around, there is a game in every concept/genre/playstyle and then a few dozen variations of it to fit each type of player on top of that, at half the price of what triple A pukes out every year. It ain't special anymore, its rather that there is an abundance of choice and most devs understand how to make a decent game now, and get to grips with building one rather quickly, too. Game price is then only overinflated by a movie star cast/voicing, expensive mocap and other Hollywood-inspired bells and whistles to oversell what is otherwise, just like your average Hollywood flick these days... a very weak thing altogether. And then complain how expensive it all was to make, too. More often than not, they were so laser focused on the eye candy that they forgot to put a game in it, as well. Or 'content'. Those are spoonfed to you later... in the form of skins and store items.
Triple A gaming is broken as fuck, and not an excuse for anything other than to ignore it completely. To me that entire segment has priced itself out of my comfort zone, the occasional rare gem notwithstanding. But 95% of it can be simply ignored and you won't miss a thing.
