I think we need to replace the word "stupid" with the word, "unwise".
"Stupid" is the good word, imo. People being brainwashed on misinformation thinking that they know what they're doing. That goes for both people in power and those who vote on them.

Meant no offense to you of course. I would not disagree in many cases. However, not everyone who is a part of the existing problems are stupid. They're smart people many of them, who are being mislead and misinformed. We need to fix the underlying problem and make punishments & penalties for spreading inaccurate and misleading information to the public as valid news. We accomplish this and many MANY of our problems in society will start to go away.

I don't disagree, but we'll never accomplish this as long as we never even try. And why would we try? Misinformation generates more clicks and ad revenue.

The other thing is that there's way more stupid people out there than smart ones. As long as we vote by majority, stupid people will always have their way, and all of us will suffer the consequences.

It's not as defined as that. There are in fact many subtle levels of intellect in the world. The problem is that we have no way for those with the brains to assert leadership in a consistent manner. Honestly, the only way we are really going to fix things is if we limit leadership roles to those who have provable intellectual advantage. But even then things will never be perfect because, at the end of the day(any day), we're all human and imperfect.

The real key is in education. A well educated populace, is a strong and stable populace.

But also one that's hard to manipulate with misinformation. We don't want that. We want people to be obedient consumers of bullshit.

I see your point of course. And that's yet another problem with true progress. Those in power want to stay in power. They don't want to trust in and yield to the will of the people they control. It's the pathetic reality of the world we live in.

True. But what's the will of the people? How do people feeding on misinformation know what they truly want?
