I am in the process of putting together a new build for my brother.
I am trying to reuse my AM4 EK Velocity waterblock on an AM5 system. The block has its own backplate that uses M3 thumb screws. Using the short plate as a means to attach the contact frame to the motherboard, would I double up and then put the AM4 backplate on top of the short plate? With the short plate being 3mm high, I would think I would be able to install like this: Contact Frame -> CPU Socket -> Short Plate -> Rubber Gasket -> EK AM4 backplate Is this how it is intended to be used?
