Hey guys, i am going to reapply thermal paste on both my gpu and cpu.

Friend has coolermaster pro thermal paste in hand which has thermal conductivity of 9w/m-k.

I am thinking of purchasing the cooler master maker nano, which has a thermal conductivity of 11w/m-k and is made of diamond particles or something which i have heard is good, but i would need to spend 75 dollars on it.

Should i go buy the better one or will the former do just fine when slightly overclocking my gpu/cpu ?

How much of a difference would the better one make, in terms of temperatures ?

Benchmark Scores Classified
temp not only affected by thermal paste, the contact area, the pressure, the heatsink, the airflow affect more than paste
if you wanna use the better paste it's ok but improving the airflow will give you better result than the thermal paste itself

$75 on MasterGel Maker isn't worth it, I take it you'd be importing it? It's much, much cheaper than that. But Pro is going to handle your machine fine, even the Regular will, if you intend to use it on the 5600X you have on your specs. Alternatives would me Arctic MX-4, Noctua NT-H1, deepcool Z9, Gelid GC-Extreme (this one tends to be pricier, but it's what I use, it's fantastic for high-end CPUs), or Thermal Grizzly Aeronaut, do some scouting on the prices for these, any you'd get will be fine.

Not long ago I read a review about thermal paste, very extensive one with all included, i learned my ancient MX 2 is only 1.5° C worse than the best thermal paste, so I didn’t bother ordering something else. Thermal paste is overrated, the only thing that makes big difference is liquid metal instead of regular paste. Keep this in mind.

Having done a lot of my own thermal paste testing in the past, I can tell you right away that thermal conductivity is a very unreliable indication of actual performance. Look at any bar chart of a thermal paste performance test and you'll find that it doesn't correlate at all with their respective thermal conductivity values.

Great example right here (look at the thermal conductivity values in relation to ranking):

This may help you find something

That's great stuff, go with it.

No, the difference is NOT worth $75. Go with the stuff you already have on hand and enjoy!

Thanks for the replies guys, went with my friend's paste. Completely cleaned my pc and reapplied thermal paste. Temps are much better now, about 10 degrees cooler in fact. Idle is around 35degrees celsius and load is around 60 on cpu. Gpu doesnt exceed 70 degrees celsius.
