Lucky number 13 is also the last week of March and this time around there are a lot of new releases, some of which are highly anticipated console ports, least not courtesy of an HBO TV show, but it doesn't stop there. We also have a WWI strategy game, a slow pace environmental strategy game, a game where you fight bugs and a rather different fishing game in this week's lineup. In fact, it's such a busy week of releases that we've thrown in a few extra games, just because we can.

The Last of Us Part I / This week's AAA title / Tuesday 28 March
Experience the emotional storytelling and unforgettable characters in The Last of Us, winner of over 200 Game of the Year awards. In a ravaged civilization, where infected and hardened survivors run rampant, Joel, a weary protagonist, is hired to smuggle 14-year-old Ellie out of a military quarantine zone. However, what starts as a small job soon transforms into a brutal cross-country journey.

9 Years of Shadows / Monday 27 March
Fight to bring beautiful colors back to a hand-crafted world of darkness and discover the story of Europa, a young warrior, and her ghostly childhood companion, Apino.

Terra Nil / Tuesday 28 March
Terra Nil is an intricate environmental strategy game about transforming a barren wasteland into a thriving, balanced ecosystem. Bring life back to a lifeless world by purifying soil, cleaning oceans, planting trees, and reintroducing wildlife, then leave without a trace.

Smalland: Survive the Wilds / Wednesday 29 March
Experience a big adventure on a tiny scale! Enjoy multiplayer survival in a vast, hazardous world. Preparation is key when you're this small & at the bottom of the food chain. Craft weapons & armour, tame & ride creatures, build encampments & explore a strange new land.

Gripper / Wednesday 29 March
Gripper is a story-driven action game with boss fights on wheels. Tear your enemies apart with a grappling hook. Rip out their metal hearts to gain abilities. Rescue your family and uncover the secrets of the collapsing world.

The Great War: Western Front / Thursday 30 March
The Great War: Western Front is the definitive WW1 strategy game. Play a deciding role in history with this real-time tactical experience as you take charge in the iconic Western Front from 1914 to 1919. Pick your faction and lead your forces to victory. Pre-order now to receive 3 days early access.

Dredge / Thursday 30 March
Dredge is a single-player fishing adventure with a sinister undercurrent. Sell your catch, upgrade your boat, and dredge the depths for long-buried secrets. Explore a mysterious archipelago and discover why some things are best left forgotten.

Ravenbound / Thursday 30 March
Fear everything and nothing for death brings you closer to victory in this challenging open world action-roguelite. As the Vessel of an ancient power you must use steel and skill to complete your mission in a dangerous fantasy world inspired by Scandinavian folklore.

Troublemaker / Friday 31 March
Grab a backpack, boxing tape, and focus on what high school is all about: Beating the ever loving crap out of one another! Troublemaker blends favorite action-adventure-beat-'em-up elements from the strongest traditions in the genre.

Hmmm, this 9 years of shadows looks good.

9 Years of Shadows looks interesting (yay for Metroidvania!) and the Small Land one looks neat, I've got enough on my gaming plate as it is though, so I'll probably just wait for both to go on sale and maybe try them out then.

What would be the justification for a game with these graphics to require 32gb of ram? What the hell is going on inside these development studios lol

Honorable mentions, Nienix: Cosmic Warfare just released, it's like 2D Diablo with space ships. Didn't play much yet but first impressions it's pretty neat - maybe a bit too easy but casually cruising around pewpewing everything that moves for an hour or two has been pretty relaxing.

I've been wanting to get The Last of Us ever since its PlayStation release, but there's no way I'm gonna spend 50 quid on a simple port of a console game from several years ago.

Technically this is a port of the Part I remaster/remake that came out last year, not of the original game that was released in 2013. It is actually the PS5 title with shortest release window when ported to PC.

Then that's another problem: I don't see that it's a remake. One just needs to look at Black Mesa - now, that's where the term "remake" starts making sense! Game makers are getting too comfortable ripping us off for the same stuff again and again, and I'm not gonna support that.

Well good news then that everyone can decide what the product is worth for them. It's not like you don't know the story, so you can always wait a few months for the inevitable deal ^^
But I wouldn't blame NG for wanting to have the two parts of the game at technological parity. I like that they did that tbh and they did put a lot of work into it after all. It's not like they added some higher res textures and called it a day...

I don't disagree - but I still think that asking 50 Great British Rubles for a slight remake is a ripoff, when you can play a true remake like Black Mesa for 15 quid.

On games like this I tend to wait for the inevitable box set with the 3 games
