Hi,

I've been trying to figure out if I can or cannot undervolt my CPU. I've tried most of the things suggested in various threads but still no success. Installed an older version (v1.3.1 released November 29 2019) of the BIOS and reset to factory default and still nothing. CPU microcode is version 0xC6 and FIVR Control is showing locked. Am I out of luck with my particular laptop?

Short answer, yes.
But I could be wrong.

Didn't Intel block undervolting on all of their 10th gen CPUs?
They did on most laptops, but some with older Bios's work still.
I'll step back and wait for the expert to have a say.

It depends on the manufacturer. Some OEMs allow software undervolting on 10th Gen CPUs.

FIVR Control is showing locked
That definitely means that voltage and turbo ratio limit adjustments have both been locked. The reset to factory BIOS option works on some Dell laptops. If you have tried that and it is still locked, you might be out of luck. Search other forums for your laptop model and try to find out if someone has found a way around this limitation.

This person was undervolting the XPS 7390 about 5 months ago.

It might be a recent Windows update that is blocking things now.

Ah, that would make sense. I guess my last thing to try would be to do a clean install with a version Windows prior to any Windows Updates that may have disabled any options. Thanks for all the help!

@Vextrek - Did you recently upgrade to Windows 10 2004? Voltage control can be blocked by a BIOS update but it is also possible that is was blocked with a recent Windows software update. All it takes is setting a single bit within one CPU register to put an end to under volting.
