Throttlestop settings for undervolting

Hi, I'm trying to undervolt via Throttlestop my cpu. I have a 2021 Lenovo Legion 7i (gen 6) with i7 11800H and nvdia gpu 3080. I've already followed a bunch of threads where people with the same pc and specs go through the process, but since it always changes from pc to pc, I'm trying to get the right settings for mine.

Right now, the problem I'm encountering is that whenever i run a Cinebench to test the stability of this configuration i get flagged in Red and Yellow both pl1 and pl2 in the "limits" window. At first I thought that maybe I went to far with the Offset voltage (-90) but when i put it to -40, the same flags appeared, and as a proof of that Im seeing worse results in the cinebench tests from my cpu.

The default settings of my pl1 and pl2 were 90 and 135, which was way high and made my pc heat up too quickly.

ps: Cinebench score with default pc settings were about 13500, now about 11500.

I thought that maybe I went to far with the Offset voltage (-90)
Look at the values in the Offset column of the FIVR monitoring table. When you see +0.0000 from top to bottom, that means your offset voltage requests are not being applied to the CPU.

If you want to use ThrottleStop to control your CPU, you have to start by disabling Windows 11 - Virtualization Based Security including core isolation memory integrity.

After you do that, reboot and delete the ThrottleStop.INI configuration file. Post an updated screenshot of the FIVR window so I can see if this is working correctly or not.

Your CPU is a power hungry monster. The good news is that cooling looks excellent. You should be able to increase the PL1 and PL2 power limits up to 100W for PL1 and 110W for PL2. That should help reduce the amount of power limit throttling that you are seeing.

Cinebench score with default pc settings were about 13500, now about 11500.
Be careful when testing. If you run Cinebench back to back, the second time you run it, you might get more power limit throttling or thermal throttling if it gets too hot. You cannot make a meaningful comparison of different settings unless your Cinebench scores are consistent with the same settings.

Thanks for the quick response!
I disabled isolarion memory integrity, rebooted and deleted the ini file.

Cinebench score is higher than with the default settings (it was 13500 and now it's 13800), and I'm not getting any flags in the limits tab. Temperature got better aswell since i was able to set the offset to -70 and not get any errors in the limits tab.

Here are the settings of FIVR and TPL, also i wanted to ask you if all the other settings in the FIVR are ok or if i can make some better adjustments (like the Icc max, the miscelaneous boxes or the Turbo Time Limit in the TPL window).

all the other settings in the FIVR are ok
If your computer is running at full speed then you do not need to worry too much. I usually set IccMax for the core and the cache to the maximum value, 255.75. The present setting does not seem to be causing any throttling problems so you can leave it as is if you want to.

Your CPU supports limited overclocking. This means you should be able to increase all of the default turbo ratios in the FIVR window by as much as +4 if you want your CPU to run faster. Many laptops with 11800H CPUs have poor cooling so it is hard to take advantage of this feature. If you want to play around you could start by trying to run an all core overclock. That means setting all of the individual turbo ratios to 46. This setting tells the CPU to run at the same speed whether 1, 2, 3 or all 8 cores are active. Set these ratios and then check the Overclock box in the FIVR window and push Apply or OK.

After that run a full load Cinebench test and see if your CPU can maintain the 46 multiplier while it is fully loaded. You might run into power limit throttling or thermal issues when trying to do this. If you do not feel comfortable jumping immediately to 46, go up in steps. All core 43, 44, 45, 46. Run Cinebench each time and watch to see if the full requested multiplier is reported for the entire duration of your Cinebench test. I like seeing zero throttling during Cinebench.

You can run up to a 50 multiplier when 1 or 2 cores are active. To do this, check the Overclock box and in the TPL window, check the Speed Shift box and set Speed Shift Max to a value of 50.

If this all sounds a little crazy and you are not interested in seeing what your CPU can do, that is OK. Intel included this limited overclocking as a feature that your CPU can use. When you bought a laptop with an 11800H, you paid for this overclocking feature so it is OK to use it.

Your laptop looks like it is running pretty good even without any overclocking. Raising the turbo power limits has improved performance and reducing the voltage helps keep the heat down. If you start overclocking, the heat will likely go up and up. Have fun playing. I know I would. :D

Thanks for the information, I'm quite satisfied with the current power of my cpu, for now at least.

You've been very helpful, thank you so much!
