To change my GC or update the whole rig? (Is my i7 5930k still relevant in 2021?)

Hi guys, french newbie here (also first post)

I built a rig 5-6 years ago while living in London. It served me really well of those years, but I can't help noticing that Cyberpunk or Godfall (while being run properly) still lack those amazing details that make your jaw drop. Raytracing and such (got a decent screen).

My question (as I am not really following nowadays technology) is:

Would that be better to update my whole rig and get some brand new war beast, that could run (for instance) GTA 5 in photorealistic mode without putting it on its kness (or any other HUNGRY game) haha

OR

just to change my graphic cards (got 2here) and put a really good one in the actual rig(That obviously would be well supported by the motherboard).

Also what should I chose for the rig to keep going a bit longer (GC wise)? I confess, I don't want to spend time doing this and that in the pc, changing the GC is already an effort (dumb and lazy guy here haha)
Thanx for all the help you might provide! Also excuse my broken english!

now my rig specs:

Intel Core i7-5930K CPU 3.50GHz 6 Cores
2 x NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970
I don't know about the RAM, just know I got 32GB
Gigabyte X99-UD4-CF
Several Hard drives, WD 4To, another one 1To, and the last one 500GB

Sorry if I am not specific enough about certain details.. I don't know how/where to find them.

Thanx again!

Cpu should be fine in most games especially 1440p or higher. You'd get the most out of a gpu upgrade the only problem is gpus are insanely hard to get atm.

My 5920k ran pretty easily at 4.6ghz 1.3v with a 280mm aio what do you have your's running at?

I couldn't say haha, not a technician at all.
So, you're saying getting a new gpu would do the trick? I know some places here.. what would be the entry/medium level for all that raytracing stuff?

Not at all, I don't got any more room in it, the 3 other HD took all the remaining place

3060 ti/3070/3080 depending on resolution and what you can get closes to msrp

Raytracing is sorta pointless unless you're going to run high/ultra base settings...... Even at 1080p it's still super heavy.

DLSS 2.0 can help but it looks bad at 1080p in most games decent at 1440p and good at 4k but still pretty heavy.

Hi,
Only real issue is you're board only has one m.2 slot probably has a pdf manual available too so you can read up

Here's the only slot you have for m.2
You can get a pci-e card though to add more m.2 ssd's though

0 risk.... What power supply do you have?
CoolerMaster m2 1000W

I don't know the word for it in english, but if I am choosing something the motherboard is not capable to use fully.. would that still be ok? I don't know if I am clear enough lol, let's say the gpu can deliver 100% performances, but the motherboard just can handle 80% of that, would that be worthy to buy said gpu? Wouldn't that be a waste?

Not sure what you're asking but pcie 3.0 x16 isnt going to limit performance by 20%... maybe 5% in a worst case scenario.

If you grab a 3090/6900XT and game at 1080p your cpu will be more limiting than your motherboard.

What resolution are you gaming at?

then buying a current Gpu would prove useless if he would be limited by my current cpu?

resolution I am playing at... 1920x1080 ( am I correct?) usually trying to push the pc at its max.. but at one point it can't take it lol.

Sorry if I sound like the village idiot, I haven't touched the inside of a pc for years, and I am left behing with all that new tech. I used to built my own pc, but that was 10 years ago, and the current one, I did it blindly and almost randomly I must confess. Hence me sounding like "damn the guy doesn't know what he's talking about".

I mean physically move them to an external enclosure, its not that expensive.
