Tooth pastes, shaving gels - very thin, low viscosity

Why did the toothpastes and shaving gels in retail suddenly become so runny, almost like thin honey?
Are there new standards/regulations, maybe something was found in the legacy ingredients (titanium dioxide?) that should no longer be included?

I've been using the same Barbasol shaving cream for at least 30 years (don't care for the gel types). The only change has been the can it comes in during that span. Sensodyne tastes like death but it works great for sensitive teeth. Just bought two new tubes btw hoping to find that magic one that doesn't gag me when I stop holding my breath to spit. The two I just tried were actually really thick? I can say that if either your shaving cream or toothpaste are old (as in you bought a 12 pack at Costco or something)they will get runny as they age.

I think it is so the consumer uses more product at once, it reminds me for 4 legger shampoo for a dog, their excuse is no thickeners, i believe its all a scam to use more

I like Gillette, but ran out and using some Schick gel that I got for Christmas. That stuff is like foamy grease but it works pretty well

I am quite ignorant to the world of high end shaving and grooming :fear:

I work with a guy who uses a straight blade, he is 50 with the complexion of a baby.. its crazy good.
