I now play on uhd and was wondering what i would gain if i get a ryzen 5 5600x instead of my ryzen 5 5500 , i would gain higher clock speeds, more overclock, 32 mb L3 cache instead of 16gb and Pci e 4.0 instead of 3.0

Youtube really can't tell me if i would gain something other than in 2560x1440 i would gain alot, more than i would going from a 5600x to a 5800x, mabye the same diffrence if i would go from a ryzen 5600x to a 5800x 3d so there is a difference but in 4 k ? in doom 2016 i get with my system 150-160 fps, so i guess in that game i would gain some fps ?

Hi Gasolin, which games do you play?
Is your VGA: XFX Radeon RX 6700 XT Speedster QICK 319 ?
I would upgrade the VGA rather than the GPU.
At 4k your bottleneck is the VGA. The Ryzen 5500 is good enough.
I have that CPU with a 3070ti for a 1080p 165mhz panel and goes very well.

yes XFX Radeon RX 6700 XT Speedster QICK 319 (to expensive to upgrade)

Project cars 2, 3, grid legends, dirt 5, doom (2016) doom eternal, the crew 2,need for speed hot persuit, far cry 6, raid shadow legends, borderlands 3, need to google how to get to the next stage in rage 2 and wolfenstein II the new colossus (i think it's that wolfenstein game im having trouble with).

I wanna know, not having to buy one and test it, although as mentioned it has higher clock speed, better oc, 32 mb L3 cache and pci e 4.0

you can kind of go by techspot's review of the ryzen 5 5500 against the 5600(non x) and using a 6600XT. At 1080p most of the games have small gains (if minimal at all) but if you plan on upgrading the GPU down the line to something more powerful you can definitely make a case for a CPU that offers better performance

What kind of performance and/or quality are you expecting out of this system? If it's 30 fps or medium settings, then it's probably good as it is. That GPU will croak at 4K on most newer or heavier games. You have 32 GB of RAM, so you're adequate on that front. The CPU is weak, yeah, but even as it stands, you'd gain more for a 4K target by getting a stronger graphics card than upgrading your processor.

The higher res means that the performance of the CPU is less important as the bottleneck shifts to the GPU. Stay as you are and get a better graphics card, perhaps. If you're aiming for 60fps and already getting that or better, then you don't need to spend a penny.

doom runs at around 150-160 fps with the graphics on high and ultra, doom eternal runs at 70-80 fps on medium, projetc cars 2 runs at 90-130 fps with the graphics on high and grid legends runs around 80-90 fps with the graphics at the highest and ultra, all the mentioned games run completely fluently

I can't complaine

Doom is one of the most keenly optimized games around, so no wonder. The other games aren't notoriously heavy, if you're happy with your current performance why waste money on upgrading now?

because you listed so far only very easy to run games.
even newer zones in WoW will drop you in the low 30s.

New rx 6700 xt costs from 4000 of my currency (payed a little more for mine at the time i bought mine 5½ month ago), rx 6800 cost from 5332 and up (new) rx 6800 xt used is more expensive (but not much).

My card is used so i might get 3000 for it ? a ryzen 5600/5600x is just a little under 1700 do the math, i could sell my ryzen 5500 ( there can be a big difference between a ryzen 5 5500 and a ryzen 5 5600(x) )

because you listed so far only very easy to run games.

I only mentioned games i play, i don't see any reason to mention games i don't have or don't play

Yup, you don't need to change anything. Only if you fancy it, or just want extra headroom, then get a better graphics card, maybe. I wouldn't spend anything, though.

IMHO I would wait a couple of weeks to see what happens with Ethereum mining and the release of Nvidia´s 40XX series... It would drive the prices down and would make more sense to upgrade the GPU.

If you can afford a 5800X3D (over 20% ahead of 5600X when CPU bound), get that. Generally a 5600X will outperform a 5500 by 5-10% with a 3080 at 1440p. Some games gain nothing, others gain 15%+. If you use dlss difference will be bigger.

5600G is very similar to 5500.

Honestly, unless you have unplayable frames, if you're not gaining >40% from a CPU upgrade, don't even start. Personally I want my PCs to double in power every time but that mostly refers to core count. Thing is you either have enough CPU grunt or not at all, and that mostly refers to either thread count or top core frequency+IPC in terms of single thread. After that you just gain more from GPU upgrades.

Realistically, even in 2020 when I still had my 3570K, and even today now that's in the PC downstairs, that CPU wasn't really struggling bigtime. It had its 'dips', ie stutter in some games, but overall performance is still mostly GPU. Moving to a much more powerful 8700K (thread count + arch + freq increase) gained me just 10~20% FPS and removed the dips on the same GPU. And in todays gaming that CPU barely sees 40% load in games.

The problem with such test, reviews (not so much youtube videos) is there is no 0.1% and 1% low

Difference in max and avarage fps doesn't matter so much in 4k,uhd but 0.1 and 1% low does matter more in gaming

This is an avg of 6 games, the 5600G is more than 10% behind on lows when CPU-limited.

I wouldn't upgrade unless you're getting the 5700 x/g ~ 5600x is more or less a side-grade with very little benefit given the costs.

ryzen 7 5700g is stil pci e 3.0 and 16 mb L3 cache , ryzen 5600x is pci e 4.0 and 32mb L3 cache and is noticeable cheaper

That is mostly true but will you really miss PCIe 4.0 & what about 5700x as well?
and is noticeable cheaper
If it's about 20~30% more expensive then IMO it's worth the extra cost, 5700G is a better OCer from what I know & the 2 extra cores should come in handy.

Just posting some options, the 5700G is cheaper than 5700x here & only about 20% more expensive than 5600x also depending on various sales.

Ryzen 7 5700g is just a little more than 30% more expensive than a ryzen 5 5600x, a 5700x is 35% more expensive than a ryzen 5600x, again a 5600x has pci e 4.0 support and 32 mb L3 Cache

both the new ryzen and itle cpus are gonna be way to expensive, 11 gen intel would be a side grade but the first intel to support pci e 4.0

Also you would need a new motherboard and possibly new memory.

The only cpu upgrade worth doing is to a 5700/5800x3d
