Hi

I have bought a used RTX 3070 TUF GAMING OC where I discover after having installed it in my PC, that the bios is the wrong one, or the card is bricked!

Would anyone be able to help med finding the right version I can flash with nvflash?

The card returns the following in GPU-Z:

Thanks in advance!

That GPU should have dual bios. Switch from performance to quiet mode or vice versa with the computer powered off, there is a switch next to the power connectors on the GPU. Then check if that bios is registering properly

I have tried with the switch in both ways, with the same results sadly.

As far as I can see, I have tried with all the bios’s which is in the list without any luck.

Imho you have either been scammed with a fake GPU or the previous owner have mined crypto until it basically broke. Either way, if both bios behave the same the card is in deep trouble.

Regarding the first possibility, have you removed the cooler to inspect the pcb? Is the anti-tamper sticker intact?

And don't mess with it if you can return it and get a refund

It’s quite possible that I have been scammed.

The cooler have been removed before as far as I can see, as the sticker was damaged. But mining is not that popular here in Denmark cause of the prices of electricity, so I don’t think that’s the case.

One of the cooler pads was sitting where there was no memory chip, so one of the chips has been missing a cooler pad. I have corrected this in hope of that would fix the issue, but without any luck.

What I think happened was that seller was trying to get more out of the card, by changing the bios with another which was more unlimited. The first try failed, and he then switched to the other bios, and failed again. So it was my hope that finding the correct bios would solve the issue. Windows can see the card, so it’s not completely dead.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but don't get your hopes up with it having a BIOS modification. This is an Ampere GPU with a signed BIOS, there is no editor available, so modding it is not possible, nvflash will refuse to flash unsigned files that have been modified with hex editors, and if you do so by means of a hardware flasher, the card will refuse to POST.

This should be the correct BIOS, but I do not think flashing will fix it. Can't hurt though. My take? Return the card and ask for your money back.

BTW, even with the EU's irrational energy prices, at the height of Ethereum craze it was profitable to run a rig with around 10 RTX 3070s around the clock. That's why nobody could buy GPUs for years and the market is still upset, with manufacturers arm wrestling consumers to attempt to maintain mining season ASP.

Think you’re right, I cannot get it to work even with the correct bios that you linked to. Looks like I’m going to take a loss on this one.
