Hey everyone
Hope everyones having a good day. So I have an intel i-gpu. I said to myself, I might as well use it. What are the pros and cons of connecting monitor via the motherboard instead of directly going from the gpu?
Now the obvious advantage would be having a purpouse for the i-gpu and also quicksync both for editing and streaming content.
Would it make a good reduction for D-GPU power and thermals when doing basic browsing and stuff? I reckon maybe DGPU consumes 5w less power and stays 2 degrees cooler unused. It uses 2% utilisation with 20-ish watt and 40~ degree C as is now.
Rerouting lets say a game render or software like Blender from DGPU->IGPU-> Monitor could introduce input lag? I don't know and I'm too lazy to do benchmarks that's why I'm writing a techpowerup forum post instead
Techpowerup forums are full of tech-savy people who knows a lot more about all this than me so I'm curious what do you think and do with your igpu.
