vBIOS malware

I flashed this vbios to my EVGA 1080 FTW Hybrid, after having flashed the wrong vbios to it for a long time and finally figuring out all my issues were because of the wrong vbios. This is the only rom that matches the version with the version sticker on my card. But, it is unverified. What does this exactly mean?

Does this mean techpowerup has checked it won't brick your card? If it contains malware?

I am more worried about the malware part, even if the attack vector is so very small. I found out that my card has a falcon chip that verifies the vbios file, but i have been able to flash other 1080 vbios' to my card, is this possible because they're all signed?

I used the nvflash utility (version 5.821.0), not the new flash utilities that can flash unverified files.

My question comes down to: Could this unverified rom contain malware (even if the attack vector is very small), and even if it did, would i be able to even install it or would it be blocked by falcon? Thank you.

You could contact EVGA directly, if you want a version you are more confident in. Support@EVGA.com

I think the odds that someone found a way to make the GPU do something interesting in a malicious way and still continue to work properly via a VBIOS is near zero.
Who knows. Not me. I would not consider it something to worry about.

Yeah i suppose you're right, but even then, falcon would protect against any modification right?

All uploads are marked as unverified first. "Verified" means that I looked at the upload, checked that the user-provided input is correct etc. and that has been seen on a reasonable number of different cards

The BIOS you linked is fine, I've marked as verified.
