WD_BLACK SN850X 2TB - motherboard heatsink enough?

Hello guys, I would like to install a "WD_BLACK SN850X 2TB" on a "MAG B760 TOMAHAWK WIFI DDR4" in the first M.2 slot near the CPU socket.

To provide better context, my case is a mid-tower MasterBox MB511 RGB with 3 intake fans and 2 exhaust fans, featuring a dedicated RTX 4070 Super EVO graphics card.

Usage of the NVMe: 500GB for Windows 11 + 1500GB for storage/gaming.

I would like to ask you if the cooling solution provided with the motherboard is sufficient?

Should be plenty fine. Expect an idle temp of 40-45 degrees, although as it's above the graphics card, it might be a bit less, depending on your airflow.
Those temps are what I see for two of my drives under the graphics card.

Most likely you'll be fine. I doubt that in your usage it will be throttling (at least not all the time)

I have a basic Kingston NV2 drive and it's fine with my Crosshair VII Hero's heatsink which is basically a thick piece of aluminium, no problems even when benchmarking the drive. Though that Black is hella better but anyway. And an another similar drive with a M.2 to PCIe adapter with a small EK heatsink, that actually runs hotter.

Thought about one, at least in one point those were sold for like ~5EUR on Aliexpress. Just no need for now as I have such slow and somewhat cool drives. Would look nice though.

Yup, they are pimpin. But if you stick your hands in your case like I do almost daily then they kind of get in the way. But.. 5c lower temps on my drives minimum if you don't..

Well, even in a fairly warm room, and in the tight confines of my i5 mini-me box, with only a thin graphene strip, 1 small fan & some side vents, my 4TB 850x averages ~50c, and that's when it's being thrashed on all day long with data analysis, spreadsheets, image manipulations, and video processing. And when I'm just surfin, scanning, emailing ect, it stays ~44

so yea, in a normal case & in normal uses with adequate airflow, I'm certain the mobo sink will suffice...

As someone with an WD_BLACK SN850X. You'll be fine.

There will be constant airflow near the CPU and rear case fan so MB heatsink shouldnt be a problem.

If it isnt fine. Buy some 1mm thermal pads and put it on the controller and NAND. some MB heatsinks dont make contact with the SSD so good.

Its fine if not in the near the CPU, if using the heat magnet between GPU and CPU, its going to depend on quality of the board.

I have several -- absolutely no temperature issues up to 2Tb with passive motherboard sinks, but the 4Tb m.2s (and I would assume any with higher capacity) can get a little hot during large data transfers -- "hot" for me is anything < 45C. I have an 80mm Pure Wings fan sitting on the PSU shroud blowing across where I have mine mounted, two on the motherboard and two in a PCIe card, and it keeps all of them in the low to mid 40s nearly all of the time.
