Hey hey,

So often Im stuck on buying anything because nothing seems to do all I would want.
My trackball search so far is such a dead end im thinking of modifying one to meet my requirements....

Anywho, now we have 27 inch 4k monitors and personally Im not interested.

I currently use a Dell 32 inch curved 1440p 165hz monitor and its actually perfectly fine, nothing wrong with it.
But...ya know...one tends to desire new a better things soo my question is, what specs of monitor should be released for you to upgrade/change?

I personally like the idea of Ambilight which so far ties me to Philips (but if anyone knows some product I can buy and apply to my monitor with some HDMI passthrough....let me know)
I would upgrade if they made a 42 inch 4k 240hz glossy Oled monitor.
The current Evnia 42 inch is 4k but 120hz and matt sooo nope.avi.

anywho, what are you desires.....regarding a new monitor.

I was on a regular curved 24" 1080p for nearly a decade without a single itch to "upgrade" (I don't call buying a new monitor an "upgrade", it's just a swap).

Then I wanted to try an ultrawide, so I'm on a curved 34" HDR ultrawide now, and I love it. I'm not in any desire to swap.

A monitor should last for a lifetime, imo. It's not like your CPU or GPU that you always need a faster one of.

Recently went from my Samsung 49" OLED down to an LG 32" 4k OLED (240/480hz) as my main monitor.
to my surprise, going back to 16:9 after being on ultrawides over a decade was quite nice, didnt realize how much i had to turn my head with the 49 :)

Had a 49" and liked it for the sim. Had an oops and moved up to 57" G95 and love it except it takes up all of my 60 inch table top. Works so well in Flight Sim.

I don't care for fancy stuff, I just want sheer brute force of stupid amounts of PPI and even dumber amounts of refresh rate, preferrably at 21:9. And yeah, I want colours to at least be decent. Curved? GTFO. Ambilight? GTFO. "Gaming" design? GTFO. "Smart" feature set? GTFO!

Just an HP X34 but mutated to be 5120x2160 @ 180 Hz will cover all my needs just excellent. Won't ever need a new display until it physically dies. Unfortunately, these displays don't exist.

Decent PPI, 144hz or more at 1080p or 1440p. Ideally OLED at a good price. But a OLED at a affordable price compared to other monitor types aint gonna happen for awhile or so I heard.

Hmmm...

A 24"@1440p, 360/480 Hz E-TN/OLED with an USB hub and minimalist design would be interesting. So as a 21" high refresh rate model with 1080p.

But wouldn't buy them anyways, since I have no $$$ for this kind of stuff, especially because I need at least two. I have three LG 24GM77 (one has about 30 000 hours in it, the other has like 15 000 hours or so), so I won't get anything new until two of them dies on me. But they worth the money, for sure, I love 'em. The next display on my desk will be from LG, most probably. Not bigger than 24", and 100+ Hz only. Maybe a 29" ultrawide, plus a 24" in pivot, but I prefer them to be identical.

currently have two 27" monitors so no more room on my desk. When they release game changing performance then I will upgrade but not just to burn some money to upgrade a spec that shows no real world improvement to me.

I'm one of the guy that's horribly itchy for 27" 4K 240Hz OLED. If my desk is ~20cm wider I would have done double 32" 4K, but welp.
Also slightly interested at incoming monitors with 5K resolution, although I don't have reason to actually buy it.

32" with 6K resolution without all the "yo yo yo it's for the pros bro so give us $2999" stuff. Would love something bigger than 27"@4K but without losing the PPI, in other words. Don't need any fancy specs other than that.

I recently upgraded to a 27" 1440p 240 Hz OLED for $400. Pretty happy with it.
Now I have a dual monitor setup as I'm still using my last monitor from a few years ago.

4K240 would take too much GPU power to drive I think, I rather like my 1440p240 since I can get a great experience with a "mid-range" GPU.

I changed from an asus 32" 1440p 144Hz monitor to a 27" 1440p 240Hz monitor, and its excellent. Sold the asus for £300 so the OLED monitor only really cost me £178

I would be happy with a 32 inch OLED or there about with 240hz refresh rate 4k . 16:9 with dp 2.1 The new cards are going to have it so why not have it on the monitor and I'd like it for $900 cdn max

Currently (almost 2 years) I have OLED curved, UW 3440x1440, 175Hz, 21:9 which I consider the best ratio for gaming. Fits perfectly some movies too. Ratio of 32:9 is more of a sim situation or work.
When I will want to upgrade in the far future (I hope) it will be most likely the same ratio but larger (like 40") and higher res (like 5120x2160).
