Looking to finally make the jump to OLED and the LG I 'set' on, uses DSC over DP1.4.

My card(s) do support HDMI 2.1, but I'd prefer competent DP compatibility for Linux support.
Ultrawide is unimportant, but an added bonus as long as the UW is as 'tall' as ~32" 16:9 (I've very much gotten used to the vertical space)

Assuming ~$1k (or so),
Are there any displays on the market that would meet my needs, but use DP2.1?

There's this one but I've seen DCS vs no DSC and could not tell them apart with the naked eye. Not sure if it's fixed but you will be limited to a cable that is about 3 foot long

Importantly, the Gigabyte AORUS FO32U2P is specified as offering DP 2.1, but they specifically list UHBR20 on their product page. This means that the connection can support the full 80Gbps bandwidth of this modern connection. But why is this important? The main potential benefit here is that with more bandwidth available, you can run the screen at 4K 240Hz 10-bit with an uncompressed data signal. All the other currently released screens of this spec rely on DisplayPort 1.4 connections and so need to use a feature called “Display Stream Compression” (DSC) to fit within the lower bandwidth of that connection. DSC is extremely efficient and provides a visually lossless image anyway so there are very unlikely to be any visual differences you would detect between DP 1.4 + DSC and using DP 2.1 instead. DSC is so important in fact to VESA that it is one of only two baseline requirements to achieve the DisplayPort 2.1 spec. Still, some enthusiasts like the idea of avoiding any kind of compression, whether visually different or not, and the new UHBR20 bandwidth can allow that.

There is also this one which was around 1299 over the holidays but has went back up in price....

I'm not aware of any others but haven't been keeping track honestly more than content with my current oleds.

So far, that's one of the few models w/ DP2.1 I can find.

I'm intent on DP 2.1 for 2 reasons:
1. HDMI forum did not allow the latest HDMI spec on Linux w/ AMD cards
2. No added compression latency (even, if otherwise *provable* as unnoticeable)

LG's "dual mode" was attractive, and Gigabyte is unattractive, but the options are limited.

Viewsonic makes a display checking all the boxes but I cannot find it for sale anywhere...

The HP Omen Transcend 32" OLED has DP2.1 too, but no dual-mode

The ViewSonic seems to have launched in China but nowhere else allegedly that was 6 months ago so maybe canceled who knows.

When LG refreshes that monitor my guess is it will have DP 2.1 the 27 inch version seems to have it.

You do have to be careful just like HDMI 2.1 there are different versions of DP 2.1
