I have ''tried'' replacing my laptop RAM modules recently, from original DDR4 3200 MHz CL22-22-22-52 (1.2 V) to DDR4 3200 MHz CL16-20-20-43 (1.35 V). The laptop supports only 2933 MHz roof, so my original RAM is working at 2933 MHz CL21-21-21-47. After i have replaced original RAM with newer ones, the new modules dropped to 2666 MHz CL19-19-19-43 (1.2 V). I did expected the laptop to AT LEAST maintain the same 2933 MHz speed with slight improvement in latencies... In BIOS there is no option to overclock anything (newest or initial BIOS for that matter).

Please advice a software/tool that could force RAM to work at speeds, which are supported by CPU. It would be nice if that software/tool could overclock RAM with additional voltage, so i could force 1.35 V.

Probably Intel's XTU or AMD's Ryzen Master, depending on your laptop's CPU.

That said, laptops don't tend to have overclocking options for a number of reasons, so, be careful with what you do.

I wouldn't even consider doing this. So many potential problems for a unnoticeable gain.

We need more of your specs brother :toast:

You can try using Smokeless UMAF(GitHub link below) if you have an AMD CPU. I have used it before and it's a great tool. You put it on a USB stick, boot from it and change settings to your liking.
Maybe your laptop has a hidden, advanced BIOS option? My Lenovo Gaming 5 does. Google it a bit or give us more info ;)

!!!AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!

Edit: Just checked your PC specs and I pressume that's the laptop in question? Intel XTU then. It's a Lenovo so... Check for hidden BIOS options ;)

Intel XTU does nothing for RAM. My laptop supports XTU versions from 2021 onward, older versions won't install (in case older versions had RAM tweaking).

There is an option to enter advanced Lenovo BIOS, but i am failing to do it so far. Those common Fn shortcuts are not working for my 17IMH05H.

After you input the key combination, nothing will happen. You have to go to "save and restart" and enter BIOS again. Then you will get the "unlocked" variant.

Are you saying that based on 1.2 Volts the best DDR4 SO-DIMM is CL22 at 3200 MHz? Surely not...

Laptops are extremely locked down. Besides storage, if you're lucky, you can't really upgrade anything. You have no setting for RAM, if it decided those RAM sticks will at those speeds, that's what they'll do.

Also, wth were you thinking swapping DDR4-3200 for DDR4-3200? Did you not notice the new sticks need more voltage? Did you not notice you can't set the RAM voltage in the BIOS?

without xmp and moar volts yes maybe cl20 or even 16 but what do ya expect form a cas change only?

maybe your old ram was dual rank and most cl16 i think is single rank

only modules i found 3200cl18 with 1,2volt (max volt for jedec)

and this is fastest in europe but with xmp:

don´t want to be mean just saying
