whats the diffence between ddr1 and ddr2 and what is ddr400 and such. and whats the difference between the amount of pins i see that some have like 184 and some have 224 or something.

DDR 1 ranges from PC1600 up to PC4000 those modules have 184pins,DDR2 uses 240 pins and Ranges from PC2-4200 up to PC2-8000 i believe they may go higher...main difference is speed and platform for amd u must have a am2 motherboard to run ddr2 intel i believe ddr2 started with the pentium 4 ht cpus with the 800fsb...laptops those are a whole different story because use there own type of module called a SO-DIMM
