Heyo! Im currently looking for gaming GPUs for passthrough gaming VMs. Im currently running KVMs that passthrough quadro rtx 4000's, but im not happy with the gaming performance of these cards. The server that im using is a proliant dl380 G10. Due to space constraints i cannot use a GPU that is wider that the quadro rtx 4000 / similar quadro cards. The card can be 2 pci slots thick tho.
Looking at basically any consumer gaming GPU it seems as if the length and the thickness is fine, but the cards are all too wide, as they extend past the pci "shield" and the pcb would interfear with the servers risers...
I have attached some professionally edited images of the pcb being too wide on an rtx 2080 for illustration :)
Does anyone have some gpu recommendations (preferrably amd, due to FOSS drivers) that are in the size region of a quadro p6000 or a p4000?
Cheers!

dl580 g9 user here, haven't any problems whith vga. quadro rtx a4500 seems your solution
Yo! I had that card in consideration already, but according to benchmarks even a budget consumer gpu (rtx 4060 ti) outperforms the a4600 by quite a bit for a third of the price... I wouldnt use the Quadro for gaming, and for my CAD work im already using a quadro rtx 4000 which works well enough. Have you had any consumer grade cards in your setup? Or have you only been running quadro's? Cheers!

Can a laptop 4000 GPU be removed and used in your case, modded ?

Ah if radeon pro duo and gtx 1070 worked, then i might take a gamble and install a gtx 1080 ti or similar card. Hopefully they will fit ;D Thank you!

Lmao, yeah i already thought about installing a thunderbolt controller and running an external gpu over thunderbolt 4... The total cost of that is sadly around 1K tho, and thats without the Gpu ;D

Should see over 100% increase in performance with either.

Good idea! Im just worried about the power connectors being at the side instead of the rear. Im pretty sure the rtx 4070 has its power connector right where the riser is, and i wont be able to plug power in... the radeon on the other hand might actually work, it looks like its long enough. Ill quickly look at how long the risers are and see if i can get power to it :p
