I would suggest avoiding Samsung for now, they seem to have some trouble with their SSDs.

WD_BLUE SN570 500GB

perhaps never hot !?
From W1zzard's review:
The hottest part on the drive reached 70°C, which is quite low for any M.2 NVMe SSD.

That is for the 1TB, but I expect the 500GB is similar or better.

My all new 970 EVO Plus is not hot, but by USB in an Orico enclosure (build date 2023-3).

The Samsung issues were more to do with accelerated wear and complete failure than temperature.

I thought it was fixed by a firmware update

Samsung Issues Fix for Dying 980 Pro SSDs | Tom's Hardware (tomshardware.com)
" the new firmware update from Samsung will prevent the failures from occurring in the first place if your drive is still functioning."

I wish samsung would update the firmware on my bladder, because I am sick of having the urge to pee and being unable to. Samsung needs to make lasers that go pew pew on the calcified stone lodged down there. Come on samsung you can do it! give me some lasers!!!! ffs... life is suffering lads...

are those canadian dollars? cause i think you could have found a better deal than this.

for example 7530u amd apu laptops are only 400 over on HP.com and they are brand new processors that just came out.

Yes, us dollars and I could have gone with a standard 2in1, but I travel allot and wanted a biasness class 2in1. I also did not like how the new Latitudes are built, that is why I went with a used leased one from dell. It might be slower than the new ones, but it is built like a tank.

You'd need to see if what he got was another Latitude. They do cost quite a bit over a similarly specced Inspiron or Vostro.

You are quite right, the model I got was over 2K when purchased new VS the Inspiron that I have now, which was 600$ new. I am also surprised at how well it has lasted. I have Gorilla tape holding the bottom cover together.

....moving to air cooling after years with AIOs and custom W/C.
They are nice coolers and I have the NH-U9S chroma mounted on my i7-12700 non K CPU. I am able to push the PL1 / PL2 settings pretty high on it now and still keep it quiet.

The old Samsungs seem to be more reliable. I have a 256GB 840 Pro and it still has 84% life left, I'm not at home at now so I can't check its hours. But it was few years old already when I bought it from friend back in -17

Today's thrift store find...

20230513_144515_HDR.jpg

...a Dell Ultrasharp U2718Q for $39.

It's a 27" 4K monitor with some sort of HDR support (but the black levels are complete garbage).

Annoyingly HDR only works over HDMI. Still, for that price, I can't complain.

EDIT: No clue why linking to Imgur doesn't seem to work anymore.

Hi folks, just a wee reminder this thread is for showing your latest purchase - not discussing what you should buy. Please leave those things for another thread.

Thanks

You're right, those black levels aren't great, but that price was. I could live with it.

My latest purchase arrived today. This one has to do with the thread about coil whine( https://www.techpowerup.com/forums/...asily-fix-coil-whine-coil-choke-noise.294015/ ).
@Mussels proposed the idea that ferrite chokes can help and testing with one I already had did yield a measurable result. So I wanted to try a different approach, using them in stages.
FerriteChokeSet.jpg

I'm going to use two of the large ones on the input power cable and the motherboard connection cable. Next will be the PCIe power cables, then on the display cables. The goal is to surround the GPU in question with ferrite chokes to see if an effect is rendered. Testing to come... Stay tuned over in the other thread.

Benchmark Scores bench...mark? i do leave mark on bench sometime, to remember which one is the most comfortable. :o
ran a quick CDM64
P3 Plus in the IB-1807
1679599697939.png
it will be better once in the M2_1 4.0 on the mobo :D
hello, remember me? yeah now in M2_1 4.0 X4 slot (and comparison with the Gammix S11 Pro 1tb NVMe 3.0 in the M2_2 3.0 X4 slot)
Crucial P3 Plus.PNGGammix S11 Pro.PNG
not bad for a DRAMless, specially since it did cost the same as the Gammix S11 Pro 1tb :D
the S11 Pro 512gb is in the IB-1807, i have another fast nomad drive alongside my Arion 1tb P1 and SE770G 1tb, i can retire the 240gb TR200 for now, the S11 Pro 512gb in the IB-1807 is blazing fast compared to it (still "Master Chief Edition" :p )

purchase, well not that i need one but it was 47% discounted ... 4smart VoltBeam 15W (same brand as my current VoltPlug 33w powerbrick) for 9.90
215881890_xxl3.jpeg
still 15w instead of max wired is 25w which is technically a shame (they even dare to call it "Super Fast Charging"... super fast? for a snail maybe), even the 45W of the S23 Ultra feel meh.... weakest point for Sammy  but 15w is the max Qi and my Omni 20+ powerbank is 10w so, i do not regret taking that to complete an order and avoid shipping fee
