Which PSU to take?

My system has a 7600X CPU and a RX 6800XT. It used to work fine for years, until it didn't.
So when I realized that my 650W PSU has a problem I ordered the RM1000X PSU, I knew it was a bit overkill but it was on offer, but now they put the RM750X on offer too so I ordered that too.
Now I am in a dilemma on which PSU to get. The RM1000X is 50 Euros more and do I really have a need for it?
From the other hand I can get that on Monday when I probably can get RM750X on Wednesday, and I am in a bit of a hurry because I run my PC with two PSU right now.

850W would give you all the overhead you probably want, but $50 isn't bad for that jump to 1000W.
Overkill sure, but if you upgrade down the road and need it at least you're covered.

For 50 Euros more, I would go with the 1000 Watt. It would give you better overhead if you ever wanted to upgrade to a 7800X3D and better Video card, like the 7800 XT.

I will also add, for what you have now, the 750 Watt would be the lowest I would go if you wanted some upgradeability down the road.

Hmm yeah the RM1000X will give me better overhead and it will probably last more but right now I'm just spending more money to have lower efficiency :p
But probably I'm going to take it anyway.

RM1000x can stay quieter with the same hardware, that's a feature worth mentioning.

If you wanna get a new PSU, make sure there's native support for the 16-Pin PCIe 5.0 and by native I mean there must be a dedicated 12VHPWR port on the PSU itself.

True, you currently own an RX 6800 XT and any PSU would work fine, however, in the future if you decide that you need to upgrade your graphics card, say to a 9800 XT for example, and that 9800 XT has the 16-Pin PCIe 5.0 power connector then a PSU with a dedicated 12VHPWR port will come in handy.

The RM1000 id go for because of the headroom best to have too much than too little at least that's what the misses says :). but i think she means money.

Yeah that too they are both ATX 3.1

If your system uses 500 W then a 1000 W PSU is ideal. This is because efficiency is highest at ~50% load.

You gotta see the PSU charts from cybenetics.com. They both have the same efficiency at 500W but that's the maximum and it's rare. It can also sit idle at 50W.

i would not give up a 1KW PSU that will be a much safer bet for the future just for saving 50 bucks right now.
a good PSU is a thing for a decade.

Would go for a 1KW one, no doubt. You'll need that extra 250W soon enough. ;)

Yeah but it's so hard to pick. Now I'm seeing the Be Quiet Pure Power 12 M 1000W that's on the same price and I like it too!

Plus now I read that I should had connected my RX 6800XT to my 650W PSU with 2 cables instead of 1.
Although cable resistance was never a problem it might had triggered some kind of protection, which is the case most likely, and start crashing down.
Anyway I think I should better buy a new PSU anyway, instead of trying out the 2 cable solution.

A good Plat rated ATX 3.0 unit. ATX 3.1 is actually less stringent.

I know, all those PSU I consider are ATX 3.0 also. But they are Gold since Plat is considerably more expensive.
It's a 10 year purchase. You'll probably make it back in power efficiency. If not, they're quieter too.

If you wanna get a new PSU, make sure there's native support for the 16-Pin PCIe 5.0 and by native I mean there must be a dedicated 12VHPWR port on the PSU itself.

The non-standard in it's current revision we as consumers can feel assured will last at least partway through this product cycle.

Make sure indeed. To consider the time and justification these connectors have been a product of. Certainly not something to place as a must have.

Take a quality 750 watt Gold rated PSU. That's more than enough for your rig. Don't pay any attention to Platinum or Titanium rated. They are a waste of money for the vast majority of people. Just do the math and you will see that a Platinum rated PSU doesn't save very much money on the electricity bill.

The Quiet Pure Power 12 M 1000W has a dedicated port but the RM1000X shift hasn't. It has a cable tho. I don't think it makes any difference.

I bought a Seasonic Vertex GX1000.. its been great. It barely flinches when I load it up. I came from an EVGA 750.

What does that even mean "barely flinches"?
