Windows 11 Pro shows Seagate disk at Western Digital disk

I noticed today that Windows 11 Pro sees my new Seagate Exos disk as a Western Digital Purple is there a way to fix this?

Aida64 picks this up without issues and so do CrystalDiskInfo so is it as simple as uninstall device and reboot or?

I am asking because I am not 100% sure here because I never seen this before and it kicks my OCD around :banghead:

If the disk is working fine, I would leave it.

If you really want to do something about, go to your Start menu and search for Feedback Hub. Then submit a feedback report to Microsoft. Other wise, the most I would do is try that drive in a different computer to see how it is reported there. Beyond that, I would NOT try to fix Windows - especially if my other drives are properly identified.

Did you ever actually have a WD Purple drive like that?

If so it's probably just some old metadata of some sort.

I had 2x4TB Purple drives connected in the past.

I shut down Windows 11 and then I disconnected my old drives and then I connected the new once.

Maybe I should have starter Windows 11 up before attaching the new storage drive.

i had this issue back in windows 10 when my samsung 970 evo plus was replaced with a corsair MP600 (the MP600 was a 970 evo plus in windows)
i "uninstalled" the device, rebooted and it was fixed. (not sure if you want to do this because i don't know what happens to the data. in my case nothing but still)

What I can do is shutdown my PC, unplug power to my drives except med 2 m.2. drives and then go into device manager and click view-->show hidden devices then a lot of my old devices appears even once that ain't connected and remove all of them that should be save

it's just weird if I have to do it that :kookoo:

I just don't remember ever have experienced this issue before.

Thanks @GerKNG removing all my drives from disk drives in device manager worked now :clap:

This also fixed my OCD for the better so now I learned something new about Windows it's properly just my Gigabyte motherboard that didn't knew better or Windows 11 who knows:
