Ok here's my problem... I try to use windows media player and I get blah blah blah, not a valid Win32 application error. So I try to install wmplayer 10 AND 11 and get the same errors on trying to install it... anyone know of a way to fix these errors??? I've been looking for hours now and can't seem to get a definitive answer :confused:

make sure the installer and application have their proper file extension at the end.

List the EXACT "blah, blah" you mention, here please... for ALL installation cases!

(Sound like a possible "DLL-Hell" issue, but "Windows File Protection" &/or "System File Protection" should have countered for this... no biggie, there's ways around that too!)

actually i get the same error although i am running 2000 @Gilletter what OS r u running?

@alec is their a way to get around it in 2000? or is this not possible because of the validation required?

I don't REALLY know, until I see a defined errcode/abend from the program itself, & then, IF it is what I think it is (possible "DLL-HELL" issue)?

Then, because of HOW std DLL's load (which is to look in their OWN folder first)??

We can TRY to place diff. build versions of the failing library/DLL, right INTO THE FOLDER WHERE THE APP LOADS FROM & try them by launching the program again!

(This is because unless it is 'hardcoded' w/ a path inside the code, a "no-no" & looked down upon & avoided typically - well, it can 'fool that' typically because of the rules behind lib/dll calling (Placement of DLL's locally to a program means inside its OWN folder, where it will look for them FIRST, vs. what is on the publicly accessible %path% in %windir%\system32, where many DLL's load from & are shared from when programs call functions from them))

I'm running XP, I was getting a Win32 not a valid application during ANYTHING for Media player. I tried downloading SEVERAL versions of media player and all said the same thing, tried registry mechanic, tried several things, finally got irritated enough and just formatted and reinstalled xp, lol... now it works :p

Usually, when you see that (not a valid application) in my experience, then it's a corrupted executable... can you get us a screenshot of the errmsg you see? Thanks!
