I've got a MI25 I've successfully reflashed into a WX9100 16GB, and have it well-cooled. I'd like to work on restoring the original MI25's power levels or higher.

There's at least 1 other TPUser (DR4G00N) that has the same kind of setup, and was successful in modifying the power limits.

Playing around with my Instinct MI25/WX 9100 using Vega FE powerplay tables and a 300W gpu power limit.

^this, is pretty much exactly what I'm looking to do. (I even rock the same CPU)

I've used OverdriveNtool to overwrite the powerplay table with one from a Vega FE and then used Sapphire Trixx 6.8.0 to adjust the power limit.

Clocks can only be changed in pptable, voltage changes do nothing. Trixx can be used to change voltage also but it's only an offset so it applies to all power states, I've had luck down to -50mV.

With your cooling I'd be very careful with the power limit and keep a good eye on Core/Hotspot/Mem/VRM temperatures. Due to it only having 7 phases instead of 12 like the other Vega's the VRM get's very hot quickly.

Thank You! I'd started down that route, but it was late/early and got confused/discouraged.

Bold part: I didn't know that.
I had assumed the MI25 was built beefier than the WX9100 and other Vega(s), due to the MI25 having a stock power limit of 300W (higher than most other Vega 10 cards).
The server blower is blowing directly onto the VRM segment of the PCB, and the 'plenum' created above it does 'pressurize and flow' through the GPU-sink's fins quite well. Regardless, I'll keep thermals in mind (I already managed to make the card literally SCREAM at me once when I was POSTing it in a legacy machine, without a fan. Oops)

Completely unrelated to performance goals: Has anyone figured out if the Alterra FPGA can be accessed and used for anything? I recently noticed that AMD uses the same/similar FPGA on Engineering/Qualification Sample custom cards.

That is Total Board Power not the power limit (which refers to the chip alone). The MI25 shares the same 220W gpu power limit as many other vega's.

As for the FPGA I have no idea.

Then that makes it an interesting project for me to desolder & resolder the core to a Nano PCB which also has 7+1 power phase. ..Pinout should be the same.

It would be nice if someone can post close-up Hi-RES photos of PCB back & front of WX-9100 with shroud removed..

Oh, how I do enjoy your thinking. However, the MI25 does appear to have a different PCB than the real-deal WX9100. Probably similar VRM section though (which, I forgot is around the GPU on Vega)

PCB layout maybe different, but I was referring to the GPU core itself, ie the pinout should be the same as a regular Vega 56/64 but with the additional 8GB giving a total of 16GB. The only remaining issues I can think of is any part of those chips laser cut to remove features. If not then it's possible to build a 16GB Nano or even a standard Vega 64/16GB card just by removing & replacing the core on a regular standard PCB.

Then it's just a question is BIOS compatible, ie does it need a special BIOS to address the additional 8GB, But you may can test that on the current card before hand with regular Vega 56/64 BIOS. This is best done with a external programmer with clip.

How do you go about changing things in OverDriveN? Never had this error on my RX 580 or 640

This was the error I ran into when I 'gave up'. I assume it's a software version issue, as the latest releases only mention the Radeon VII as a supported Vega GPU.

Run OverdriveNtool as admin then right-click on the top of the window and select PPTable editor. From here just open the Vega FE bios file, make your changes to frequencies if wanted and click Save.

I suspect I'm having an issue w/ driver version or OverdriveNtool version. Still getting same error(s), even ran as Admin. (or I'm being stupid. Which, I have a history with...)

Which driver are you on, and which version of OverdriveNtool? Any chance you could attach the latter? (I've tried 2 versions and 5 diff downloads, all are giving me the unsupported error or are just not opening)

Using 23.3.2 and OverdriveNtool 0.2.9, it simply just worked for me without an issue.

Just to make sure, don't pay attention to the main window of OverdriveNtool, only use the PPTable editor.

That's Adrenaline. *that* might be my issue; was on Pro drivers. Will update to 23.3.2 and give it a go again. Thank you :D

Update: Nope. Wasn't the issue. I was being a moron.
Your picture made it 100% easy-peasy. Thank you again!
I shall now sulk in my shame; and test out thermals, stability, and performance.

Just open this bios with the "Open bios/reg file..." option in the pptable editor. It'll grab the pptable automatically.

I managed to break something

After a few hardlocks/reboots, I'm struggling to get the card to give over 1050mv regardless of PPT used. I thought I'd fixed it with a clean driver reinstall, but the issue seems to be persisting. I also had error(s) on reboot (after crash) saying the VBIOS didn't support UEFI. (Was able to just switch on/off the CSM in UEFI, and the error went away on POST.)

Did I accidentally 'trip' the card into a low-power vBIOS mode?
These MI25s don't have a (physical) vBIOS switch, IIRC. Any ideas?

This worked for me great. One issue however, I am using a 120mm all in one water cooler, with the pump always at a 100 and the fan connected to the fan header on the gpu. For whatever reason the fan curve of this card is extremely light and doesnt ramp up until about 80 degrees, at which point the card begins to thermal throttle and stutters occur. With the fan connected externally and always at 100 this isnt an issue but ofc I would prefer it to have a proper fan curve? Is there any way to change the fan curve of this card?

Sapphire Trixx 6.8.0 will let you make a custom fan curve.

I got specifically the 6.8.0 and it just either doesnt open or after 5 minutes it'll say it's not a sapphire card
I've never seen it say that before. Maybe it's the vbios you're using? This the one I've got on mine and it works flawlessly:
https://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/217771/217771

You also can try pptables from a liquid cooled V64/FE instead, it has a 65c temp target rather than the 80c on the air cooled card so it might have a more aggressive fan curve by default.

The Vega 64 vbios works? I had assumed that it didn't since the mdp port is on the #6 spot on the pcb[/url]

I was referring to just the pptables for the V64/FE bios, it indeed won't have display out if you flashed that bios onto the card.

This works although it seems I have to set the target rpm higher in Radeon whenever my PC is restarted. I have no idea why trixx doesn't work

also, do you know of anyway to make VR work on this dang thing? Im using a reverb g2 and steamvr doesnt like the monitor being plugged into a different gpu than the headset

No idea as to the other issues that'll come up, but I can confirm that the MI25 converted to a WX9100 will do multiple display-outs via MST Hub. The MI25/WX9100 should be mini-DisplayPort 1.4a.

I couldn't give up FreeSync, and wasn't gonna spend nearly as much on a new MST hub as I did on the GPU itself.
Regardless, there are a few MST hubs out there that claim VRR/G-Sync/FreeSync compatibility, if that's necessary.

Since my RX 640 is Polaris 12 I may be able to to flash it with a PRO vbios and use EDID to pass the blank ports on the WX9100 through the 640
