some of you will know that Asus's implentation of their DS3D GX engines on their Xonar cards hasnt been that great, possibly causing a lot of CTDs with some games when you turn the function on to bring directsound back to your games which makes the game pretty much totally unplayable...

Asus's Driver support is pretty much a joke - its pretty much 1 driver update a year & dispite numerous people on their forums complaining about bugs with their drivers - they get ignored because Asus forums are user-to-user based so there are no support/tech staff present to gain feedback or get advice from.

so In light of that I have come up with a simple solution/fix that will hopefully stop more fussier directsound games from crashing when DS3D is enabled...

----

Use 'Creative Alchemy'

Creative Alchemy is 'locked' & cant be installed on a system that doesnt have an XFi soundcard but a man called Daniel Kawakami has modified & patched versions of Alchemy to work on ANY card prior to Creative rearing its ugly face & trying to take him to court over copyright infringement. despite D.K modding drivers for Zero profit & personal gain....

so the answer to DS3D GX lies >here<

Just set it up & make sure you have Alchemy running with DS3D GX on at the sametime & you should be able to play your more fussy directsound games with hardware acceleration turned on in game & bring back some possibly much missed EAX to your ears.

ONLY USE IT FOR DIRECTSOUND GAMES THAT DISLIKE DS3D GX - IF YOU CHOOSE TO RUN ALCHEMY WITH OTHER GAMES THAT ARENT HAVING ISSUES THEN THAT IS YOUR DECISION.

USE AT YOUR OWN RISK

credit goes out to DK who made this whole thing work, it wouldnt of been possible without him.
