well i thought id install zonelabs firewall as ive just been using xp fw and my routers fw i used to love zone alarm, not the most advanced set of features, but pretty solid and stable oh not to mention free, well not anymore i installed it last night and must say its a pile of crap.

could not dowload anything my speeds were shot to shit and the same with internet explorer, tried to uninstall it and the uninstaller just hung, had to manually end it and restart

dont know what the hells happened to it i used to swear by zonealarm but now i wont be touching it again, looks like theyve been took over by another company as there site has changed aswell as the za logo now says "zone alarm by check point" :shadedshu

oh well nothing lasts forever eh :p

Software Windows Server 2003 SP #1 fully patched, & massively tuned/tweaked to-the-max (plus latest drivers)
I also had difficulty w/ it, but on Windows Server 2003: BUT, when I tried to install it here, it DID warn me it was "unproven/untested" on THIS particular Windows OS version, fairly.

It did not work out well... it screwed up a lot on it, so I removed it & just went w/ Windows std. firewall instead. Has it been corrected for THIS OS version I use? I have NO idea!

I turned from it, & did not look back.

Yes, like most of you, MOST LIKELY? I dislike seeing things that were once THE BEST/GREATEST, go to hell... it is a shame.

This program, imo also, was "THE GOOD STUFF" in the way of firewalls in its hey-day, & it appears those days may be gone now for them.

Too bad...

Now, my experience w/ it, is admittedly LARGE on Windows 2000/XP & for years, but it was NOT GOOD on Windows Server 2003 (per what I wrote above, & it is sensible + 'just' on their part to perhaps NOT do well on Windows Server 2003)!

STILL... it was ALL I would load in fact for 2000/XP, period, in the way of firewalls... shame to hear it may not be what it once was anymore.

:(

APK

P.S.=> This seems to happen quite a bit, especially when a company sells out (a goal to be reached though, why not?) to another company... diff. coding teams maybe w/ lesser skills & code familiarity, w/ diff. ideas (sometimes not as good) of what a GOOD FIREWALL, really is... apk
