Recent leaks have unveiled specifications for NVIDIA's upcoming RTX 5070 Ti graphics card, suggesting an increase in power consumption. According to industry leaker Kopite7kimi, the RTX 5070 Ti will feature 8,960 CUDA cores and operate at a 300 W TDP. In a departure from previous generations, the RTX 5070 Ti will reportedly share the same GB203 die with its higher-tier sibling, the RTX 5080. This architectural decision differs from the RTX 40-series lineup, where the 4070 Ti and 4080 utilized different dies (AD104 and AD103, respectively). This shared die approach could potentially keep NVIDIA's manufacturing costs lower. Performance-wise, the RTX 5070 Ti shows promising improvements over its predecessor. The leaked specifications indicate a 16% increase in CUDA cores compared to the RTX 4070 Ti, though this advantage shrinks to 6% when measured against the RTX 4070 Ti Super.

Power consumption sees a modest 5% increase to 300 W, suggesting improved efficiency despite the enhanced capabilities. Memory configurations remain unconfirmed, but speculations about the card indicate that it could feature 16 GB of memory on a 256-bit interface, distinguishing it from the RTX 5080's rumored 24 GB configuration. The positioning across the 50-series GPU stack of this RTX 5070 Ti appears carefully calculated, with its 8,960 CUDA cores sitting approximately 20% below the RTX 5080's 10,752 cores. This larger performance gap between tiers contrasts with the previous generation's approach, potentially indicating a more defined product hierarchy in the Blackwell lineup. NVIDIA is expected to unveil its Blackwell gaming graphics cards at CES 2025, with the RTX 5090, 5080, and 5070 series leading the announcement.

Zalman Releases CNPS20X Twin Tower Cooler - 300 W TDP

Zalman has now achieved global availability of their CNPS20X twin tower cooler, an air-cooling solution designed to dissipate up to 300 W of heat from your CPU of choice. The Zalman CNPS20X features loads of heat transfer technologies, including RDTH (Reverse Direct Touch Heatpipe), an evolution of the now ubiquitous DTH (Direct Touch Heatpipe) technology applied to its six heatpipes, alongside IHD (Interactive Heatpipe transfer Design) for increased thermal performance (Zalman claims this last technology brings improvements in heat dissipation in the order of 20x).

Not only the heatpipe design has been touched upon, though; the company also employed what it calls a 4D corrugated fin design, which means the fins themselves have contours (imagine a honeycomb shape and you're close) that improve heat dissipation and airflow. There's a stack of fins built out of copper, which are located close to the center of the airflow to improve heat dissipation further.

AMD Radeon Vega Frontier Edition Launched: Starting at $999

It's here. The Radeon Vega that's not for gamers, that is. After what seems like a year of waiting forward to AMD's next generation GPU architecture, so it has finally appeared. As we all knew was going to be the case, Vega's first foray in the market is geared at the more profitable professional sector of the market. The good news for professionals: the pricing is lower than previously reported. Instead of the expected $1,199 and $1,799 for an air cooled or water-cooled version of the card respectively, AMD is commanding a much less demanding price tag of $999 for the air cooled version (available now) and $1,499 for the water-cooled one (to be available in Q3.)

One thing that deserves to be placed before the break is a software feature of the new Vega Frontier Edition graphics cards: AMD has changed their driver scheme into a single-package installer (available in the source), with both the professional-geared drivers, and the gaming ones as well. This means that after all that Raja Koduri told us to wait for AMD's consumer, gaming-oriented RX Vega graphics cards, these will probably work just as well for gaming as for professional workloads.
