Upcoming HTC Vive Flow VR Headset Leaks Ahead of Launch

HTC is said to be launching a new VR headset within the next couple days and thanks to @evleaks we now have a pretty good idea as to what to expect. Although we don't know the actual hardware specifications, it's supposed to be a stand-alone headset that doesn't require a PC to work, although the massive leak that appears to be presentation slides, does give away quite a lot of details.

For starters, there are details explaining that the Vive Flow as the new headset is called, can be paired over Bluetooth with smartphones and you can use the phone as a controller. It'll also be possible to stream content to the Vive Flow via Miracast from smartphones and possibly also other sources. The headset appears to be powered via a USB-C cable, although the pictures are ambiguous, as the Vive Flow is sometimes wired to a phone, but most of the time it doesn't appear to be connected to anything, not even a power source.

This is leaps and bounds ahead of the competition and although the Fairphone 4 isn't what you'd call a cutting edge phone, it does have some unique competitive advantages.

Fairphone is a company that started out with a vision of delivering not only user repairable and upgradeable phones, to reduce electronics waste, but also to use more sustainable and more fairly sourced materials. Microsoft Makes Mouse out of Ocean Plastic, Claims Environmental Creds

We're all for recycling here at TPU and it's good to see that more and more big corporations are getting involved, but we can't help but feel that Microsoft is making bigger claims than it really is in this case. The company unveiled a new mouse at yesterday's Surface event called the Microsoft Ocean Plastic Mouse, however, the mouse is only made with 20 percent recycled plastic, although it does apparently come from plastic fished out of the oceans or other waterways. The issue here is that it only contains a tiny amount of recycled plastic, so it's hard to credit Microsoft for doing something real for the environment.

The Microsoft Ocean Plastic Mouse looks tacky as well, especially the scroll wheel, which is not only extremely slim by the looks of it, but also looks fiddly to use. It's a very basic two button mouse, although the scroll wheel is apparently also clickable and it can be tilted for vertical scrolling. The mouse connects via Bluetooth and supports Bluetooth 4.0 and 5, as well as Microsoft Swift Pair technology. It has a claimed wireless range of up to 10 meters, although Microsoft put in a note that it's closer to five meters in an office environment. It runs off of a AA battery which is meant to be good for up to 12 months of usage. The packaging is made out of wood and sugarcane fiber and doesn't include any plastic. Microsoft will also accept your old mouse for recycling if you get one of these and will apparently even pay for the postage. The Microsoft Ocean Plastic Mouse retails for $25.

CORSAIR Launches New M65 RGB ULTRA Gaming Mice

CORSAIR, a world leader in high-performance gear for gamers and content creators, today announced the newest entries in its world-renowned M65 lineup of high-performance gaming mice: the M65 RGB ULTRA and, for the first time, the M65 RGB ULTRA WIRELESS. Within their familiar frame, the M65 RGB ULTRA and M65 RGB ULTRA WIRELESS pack the most cutting-edge technology in a CORSAIR mouse to date. The 26,000 DPI CORSAIR MARKSMAN optical sensor offers incredible precision, customizable in single DPI steps. This is complemented by CORSAIR QUICKSTRIKE primary buttons, spring-loaded for zero gap between the left and right clicks and their optical OMRON switches for instantly responsive gaming. Those clicks are then transmitted to your PC with CORSAIR AXON 8,000 Hz hyper-processing in the M65 RGB ULTRA, or 2,000 Hz SLIPSTREAM WIRELESS in the M65 RGB ULTRA WIRELESS. The result is a mouse that registers and transmits your actions unbelievably fast, whether you opt for the wired or wireless version.

BenQ Launches a Pair of Portable Projectors With Android TV Support

BenQ might not be your first choice of consumer electronics, but the company keeps churning out some interesting products and its new GV30 and GS50 portable projectors are adding some new features to an already crowded market. First of all, both models have integrated 2.1 speakers and although we doubt you're going to get a cinema level experience from these speakers, it's much better than most of its competitors.

More interestingly, both projectors come with Android TV support, which in itself might not be very unique, but the way BenQ has added this support is unique, as far as we know. It's done via BenQ's QS01 Android TV dongle, which is neatly integrated into the projectors via a hidden compartment. This way it's possible to upgrade the "smarts" once the hardware gets updated or stops receiving updates, a feature we'd like to see on the so called smart TV's out there. The QS01 dongle is based on an unspecified Amlogic SoC, paired with 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of eMMC, has dual band 802.11ac Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2 and is running Android TV 9.0.

LG Debuts UltraGear GP9 Gaming Speaker, Matches its Displays

LG has gained a pretty good reputation for its UltraGear monitors and the company has now launched its first accessory, the matching GP9 gaming speaker. At first glance, it just looks like a compact soundbar, but looks can be deceiving and that's very much the case here, as not only is it a portable, battery powered speaker, but it hides quite a few features that aren't apparent at first glance.

For starters, LG has incorporated what they call a "Quad DAC" with some help from ESS in the shape of the 9038Pro, which is ESS' flagship 32-bit DAC. LG uses this to deliver virtual 7.1-channel audio and the GP9 is Hi-Res Audio certified. The GP9 also has a built-in noise cancelling microphone, so you can use it for voice chat or online meetings if so inclined.

Logitech Launches the G435 Lightspeed Wireless Gaming Headset

Wireless gaming headsets only keep gaining popularity and it's not hard to understand why once you've owned a pair, as losing the cable is really quite convenient. Logitech's latest entry into the wireless headset market is the G435, which is also their cheapest wireless model to date.

However, we're also looking at a lightweight headset here, at only 165 grams (5.8 oz) and Logitech is making a big deal about its sustainability too, with it being certified CarbonNeutral. What this means is that Logitech has carbon offset the production of the G435, which seems like a cheap shot at getting green creds, but Logitech does at least use a minimum of 22 percent of "post-consumer" recycled plastic by weight and FSC-certified paper sources for the packaging. How much any of this will matter when people are making their purchasing decisions is a different matter.

The adapter provides a theoretical maximum bandwidth of 2402 Mbps Wi-Fi 6E (6 GHz) and Wi-Fi 6 (5 GHz), along with Wi-Fi 6 (2.4 GHz) bandwidth of up to 574 Mbps. The PCE-AX58BT connects to your desktop PC over a PCI-Express x1 slot, and an included USB 2.0 header cable (needed for the Bluetooth component). A pair of external antennae are fixed to a magnetized base that can be placed either on your desk, or on top of your PC case. While ASUS does not mention the controller, it is very likely the Intel AX210 Gig+ looking at the feature-set. It sits underneath an aluminium heatsink on an M.2-2230 card on top of the add-on card's main PCB. The company didn't reveal pricing or availability information. ASUS is readying a portfolio of Wi-Fi 6E consumer networking hardware, including the upcoming ZenWiFi PRO router.
